MSNBC Countdown: It's Okay To Compare Bush, Rove to Nazis Last year on an episode of MSNBC's Countdown With Keith Olbermann, guest host Lawrence O'Donnell interviewed Lt. Col. Lawrence Wilkerson on legality and ethics of torture in US Military history. Looking back, this segment made news as the only national cable network coverage of Colin Powell's side man making an informed legal case that everyone involved would have been stripped of their command for ordering waterboarding.

Denied! NY vetoes Autism Spectrum care A bill to expand care for treatment of autism spectrum was vetoed by outgoing NY Governor David Paterson in a victory for health insurers and their lobbyists. As 23 other states fight to prevent insurers discriminating against kids with autism, Paterson defied a unanimous Legislature in a veto, citing hotly contested projections.

Want to Show Your Tea Bag on TV? Another "teabagging" merchandiser looks to sell signs and t-shirts to patriotic Americans fed up with Obama's move towards Socialism. Only problem is, the slogans and signs are all pre-fabricated and supplied by a for-profit corporation and the protests are being promoted by Fox News and Sean Hannity. Is this a true "grassroots" protest or a business endeavor?

On the Ground in Egypt: Cables from Peace Activists in Cairo Imagine yourself traveling from the NY area to Gaza with a returning Code Pink peace contingent when you find yourself stuck in Cairo just as the massive national protests shocked the world. These emailed 'cables' from activist Felice Gelman give great detail and texture about the 'live' experience we so badly miss in the age of declining original independent reporting.

EVALUATING THE EVALUATIONS: How Can Math or English Tests Be Used For All Teachers? In September 2013, New York City began basing teacher evaluations on Common Core test results, but neglected to create tests in subjects other than Math or English Language Arts. Instead, they simply assigned test scores in these subjects to everybody. Over a year later, we find teachers in danger of being fired, and inner city schools seeing teachers flee, knowing that low scores are linked to high poverty in the community.

Hannity and Limbaugh: The Sinful Downfall of Broadcasting in the USA Are the Limbaugh and Hannity shows creating an unhealthy environment for our children by leading American broadcasting into deceptive journalistic practices? What are the ethical responsibilities of the #1 market leaders to volunteer balance in political discourse today? And what if they were actually part of a coordinated effort to sell the war during the Bush Administration? Can America do better for it's children?

Speech Suppression? FCC Loses "Petitions to Deny" WTMJ + WISN Broadcast Licenses The FCC says "the dog ate my homework" in the case of a filing documenting serious broadcast imbalance during Scott Walker's re-election campaign. The government has little discretion to regulate free speech, but the FCC licensing process clearly provides for public feedback, complaints and even a "Petition to Deny" relicensing, as well as statutes governing 'comparable time' during election periods in the "public interest"

Hagee's CUFI Summit Attracts Record Numbers John Hagee's 3rd annual Christians United For Israel summit broke attendance records, but included stifling new restrictions on press coverage, while coaching attendees on lobbying and media control. The "religious" event concentrated on escalating Mid-East conflict, trotting out Joe Lieberman and many of the same speakers who misinformed the public on Iraq, speciously claiming Iran has nuclear weapons and ties to Al Qaeda.

HUH? Hannity Claims Obama Will Be Cutting Checks For The Poor? Okay, so I know how the Sean Hannity Show works by now, relentless one-sided partisan claims without any balance. Hannity even announces his bias, circumventing anti-propaganda laws by claiming it's just "entertainment". But today I heard something startling - Hannity claimed Obama intends to cut checks for poor people through the taxation system.

Palin and Presidential Politics: All Just a Reality TV show? The 2008 presidential race has become a personality-driven "Reality TV" show, with Sarah Palin representing everything that enthralls us about Survivor, American Idol, Desperate Housewives, The Sopranos and even Are You Smarter Then A Fifth-Grader? Can Obama embrace this reality to fight the influence of "Reality TV politics" by November?

Hannity Demands Presidential Transparency Sean Hannity today called for the incoming President to immediately make public all phone and email records of correspondance with Governor Blagojevich. Mr. Hannity is just the ally the American people need in demanding our Presidents reveal their correspondance with criminals because the media has for too long simply buried the issue.

Caught! Condi's State Dept. Found Spying on Peace Fellowship In a troubling discovery, the director of a venerable human rights activist group today confirmed the State Dept. has been covertly spying on their communications. This might explain why the group's Bogotá, Columbia offices were looted last June resulting in the theft of computers which contained details and documentation of criminal activities carried out by state affiliated paramilitary squads.

What about New York's most prominent Congressional leaders? Is Israel the issue bringing together these so-called liberals in Congress with the worst of neocons in a whitewash and smear campaign that refuses to look at Israel objectively?
