A lawyer's work is never done...in the aftermath of Katrina The link below to a jaw-dropping NYT article reflects some of the important work that the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights is doing on the Gulf Coast.Joe Rich,who is quoted in the story,is our Dir.of the Committee's Fair Housing and Community Development Initiative.Since the shortly after Hurricane Katrina,the Lawyers'Committee has committed extensive resources to housing and FEMA-related issues with outstanding results.

Maryland Judge Rules in Favor of Lawyers' Committee Lawsuit to Keep Polls Open Later Thanks to the National Campaign for Fair Elections, our legal volunteers, and our financial supporters who allowed us to activate the hotline for today's elections, we've succeeded in our suit to extend polling place hours for voters who were denied their right to vote this morning. No other organization could do such work to help so many voters in such a short period of time.
