Black Box Voting: WISCONSIN VOTE SPREAD 29,207? 7,500? Or 6,744? We should not be urging the public to trust what the public cannot see and authenticate. We have a structural problem with US election procedures, and instead of focusing on politics, we should be working together to restore the public ability to see what's going on.

Racial Profiling on Tennessee Voter Reg Cards It's time to play offense on voter registration and disenfranchisement. Those most likely to be targeted for disenfranchisement will be the traditional vote suppression targets: youth, new voters, ethnic minorities, senior citizens, independent and non-affiliated voters. Of special concern: States that have racial profiling embedded into their voter lists.

BlackBox Blog-O-Lection -- IMPORTANT! -- Thurs. May 28, 2009 The genius of democracy is dispersal of power. Consolidation of control under the EAC and secret, centralized counting under an Internet voting system combine to remove the framework for democratic elections. Like rats following the piper, most mainstream press articles write glowingly over this new concept, as if it were a foregone conclusion that all of America will vote this way soon.

New video - unspinnable details: Breach of NH chain of custody BALLOTS WERE NOT SECURED FOR THE NEW HAMPSHIRE RECOUNT. Both candidates' money should be returned because the state of New Hampshire failed to secure the recount ballots. The above video shows state officials' responses when asked who is responsible for the chain of custody breakdown, and shows specific wards and towns with ballot box chain of custody breaches.

The Government and Some of its Vendors Can Now Access Your Secrets Some citizens think we should do away with the secret ballot. That's a radical idea and carries the risk of destabilizing the nation. But secret government-owned voter+votes databases are no one's cup of tea, unless you wish to live in a carceral state, which seeks to know all about its inhabitants while hiding information about itself.Even the most radical reformers don't want this evolutionary step towards a police state.

The road to Boondoggle was paved with good intentions If federal government is going to correct anything, it should start with enacting tougher standards to give citizens Freedom of Access to Elections Information -- mandating that the system actually PRODUCE the information needed for citizens to make sure the right candidate was place in office, in a TIMELY manner, that is COST EFFECTIVE and USABLE, prohibiting removal of the information through proprietary claims.

Hilarious but improper: video of Texas lawmakers cheat-voting This short video is not to be missed. Texas lawmakers are videotaped voting more than once and voting other people's votes for them. It becomes almost a melee as they rush to (improperly and against the rules) vote everyone else's ballots.

How can voters deal with lazy media coverage on voting matters? KPBS "Full Focus" aired an interview with an elections official (and former Diebold salesperson), asked no meaningful followup questions, and permitted no input from those with an opposing point of view. The result? The public was misinformed by the media. What can we do about it, after the fact?

Fewer places to vote (the Real cost of voting machines) The truth about HAVA is that it has caused millions of voters to lose their right to have to travel farther to polling places, millions more to lose access to polling place voting altogether, and now more than 100 million voters have their votes counted in secret.

HAVA- The road to the boondoggle was paved with good intentions Question: What happens if you lobby a lawmaker for $4 billion in expenditures for touch-screen (DRE) voting machines and go back to that same lawmaker two years later asking to dump DREs? Answer: You lose credibility. It might be hard to lobby for other things. It's politically embarrassing. And your members, or funders, might have a few questions to ask about the prudence of your lobbying expenditures.

At the NH Recount: Holes Hidden In Plain Sight The "seals" are not seals. The "chain of custody" is not a chain of custody. Ballots being transported by the "state police" are actually transported by Butch and Hoppy, who are not employed by the state police. Butch and Hoppy's real names are not really Butch and Hoppy. In New Hampshire, it's all hidden in plain sight.

Dear Black Box Voting: Why are you against advanced technology? Inside access to handcounted paper ballot systems,if the systems lack certain simple checks&balances, allows tampering through approximately half a dozen attack points on a small-scale basis.Inside access to electronic voting systems,if ALL procedures aren't followed to the letter,& I guarantee you they are NOT followed at all consistently, allows wholesale access to as many as 1,000,000 votes at a time by a single person.

Gird for massive new voting machine purchases Not so great if you think the White House shouldn't be designing our voting technologies. Also not so great if you look at the design itself. It's not about election system integrity, not in the sense of citizen oversight and democracy, that is.The WH designs are all about exceedingly complex and expensive high tech configurations. The EAC's voting system"guidelines"(sic)&certification programs are not about election integrity.

EAC Panel Faces Partisan Allegations Many of the election activists, and unfortunately Lofgren as well, seem to be under the impression that the purpose of reform is to get "good people" in place.A more accurate framework for what we are supposed to be doing with reform is to get "sound structures" in place-and the EAC is about as top-heavy a structure as you can get, unless you are trying to design a structure that will produce fascism or corrupt governance.

Who is 'they"?

We are finding in New Hampshire:the best of the best in MOST situations, but considerable naivete & in some areas,an alarming and willfull negligence. The upshot will be that New Hampshire could be the role model for the nation, but not until they purge themselves of a limited number of very significant problems. The problem with chain of custody:You can have a strong, beautiful, stainless steel chain but if one link is broken...

A Point by Point Look at the Increase in Election Executive Branch Influence under Holt Elections are the mechanism through which the citizenry conveys its instructions to the government, and therefore, elections must provide full freedom of access to information to all citizens, which includes access to the information needed to validate and audit the election. Without this, it is only a matter of time before our system of government crumbles.

When precincts are pre-counted, and discarded by election officials in violation of State law, the Secretary of State's directive, and theBoard's own Standard Procedures, the integrity of the entire process is called into question.

Re: parallel elections Being 100-200 feet from an elections office and taking the time to fill out the parallel election ballot and notarize it with the notes of why you weren't allowed to vote should represent great evidence for charges of voter disenfranchisement. It is no longer hearsay or a generality without specifices anymore.
