McCain Vs Obama on Healthcare Reform The presidential candidates each have a policy for healthcare reform. They are both found lacking in any real change. Neither supplies coverage for the approximately 50 million Americans with poor or no comerage. Both maintain the current "bleed us dry" private haelth insurance plans. We need a better plan.

Some Problems with HR Bill 676 Bill HR 676 promotes a Medicare based Universal health plan, which is the concept I favor, but this plan is imperfect. If we are going to do it, let's do it right. Some problems found are listed.

Modification of Medicare to give Universal Healthcare I recently submitted a list of bullet points for a possible way to expand Medicare, to improve it as a product, and incrementally enroll the entire population of the United States into it, granting universal and affordable healthcare to all. This article is the expanded concept. I want constructive criticism and help in building a universal healthcare system that we can force Washington to enact, by the power of the vote.

Private Health Insurance: Why do we need it? Many people still that they have an advantage in healthcare delivery if they have a private/expensive private insurance plan. In fact, they have no advantage over a person having a basic Medicare plan coupled with a supplement. So what does an expensive private plan over enyone: A chance to contribute to the wellbeing of corporate executives.

The Solution for the Big Holdup on a Public Option is... One of the major stumbling blocks for a public option for healthcare reform is the issue of losing private control of healthcare. Conservative voters apparently will not support that option. There is a way that would remove any legitimate concern except for the inevitable decrease in the absolute magnitude of their private profits. Please read and consider.

Medicare Can be Revised for Universal Healthcare Medicare can be revised to give healthcare coverage to all. I have read HR676 and SB840 and have some problems with both. This is a simple, scalable, fundable proposal that can be incrementally implemented. In this way it will not overburden the patients, providers, the current infrastructure, or the government. I would love critical feedback.

HealthCare is becoming a Numbers Game Some insurance companies are now publishing manipulated billing data to a Web page and calling it data on quality. This is simply their attempt to control providers and force them to comply with their profit driven guidelines. The fewer test one orders, the fewer medications one dispenses, and the closer one sticks to their formulary, the better one will look on their web page. What about quality data on them.

Tragedy In HealthCare Reform One of the few things more dysfunctional than our current healthcare delivery system is our Congress in trying to fix it. Bailout Alternative There is a more reasonable solution for this "bailout" predicament. Instead of bailing out the bad institutions, why not funnel federal money into the economy by going through the good banks. They are more likely to be able to pay us back and with interest. Do we really care if the other banks and their CEOs go belly up? Would their folding not be a lesson in the free market system that they have lauded in the past?
