Secretary Bowen's review of voting systems President Eisenhower warned us of the dangers of the military-industrial complex. After four years of activism and research I can say the election industry presents an even greater danger to our republic, for it puts at risk the very foundation of our form of government: the right of the people to choose who shall govern them.

Shame on Them! CA. Election Officials Attack Their Chief During the public comment period election integrity activists, computer experts, and many election officials came forward to offer their comment. The elections officials were nearly unanimous in their attack upon the Red Team exercise and the resulting reports. The stark contrast was Freddie Oakley, the Registrar for Yolo County, who has repeatedly shown her support of electoral integrity. Shame on them!

Do election integrity activists want a "perfect" reform bill? Our electoral process also must be based upon checks and balances, which is only possible with a completely transparent process. Any reform must have that as its standard. Anything less subverts our form of government. A secret vote and an open process for counting that vote are not in opposition, for they serve the same purpose, that the citizens know the government serves by the consent of the governed.

About Ciber, the Lab Barred from Testing Electronic Voting Last Summer... This questions all NASED and state approvals since then that used Ciber,Inc.reports as their basis. It also raises serious questions regarding the validity of all testing performed by Ciber during the critical last 2 years when the latest generation of electronic voting machines were supposedly tested. That would include ES&S,Sequoia,& the Diebold TSx,including the special testing CA SoS & NASED in December 2005.

Accessing a Diebold TSx in a "sleepover" Whether it is one day or three weeks, the TSx units are exposed to physical access either by the poll worker, a family member or friend, or even someone sneaking into the house or garage. Since there is no background screening of poll workers, it would easy for someone will malicious intent to become a poll worker. No matter the motive nor the source of the attack, an attack can be accomplished.

Why Candidates Should NOT Concede Before All the Votes Are Counted With many localities still needing to count tens of thousands of votes even eight days after the election, the question of conceding before all the votes are counted, and the process audited for accuracy,is an important one.It is even more important given that absentee and provisional voting is surpassing 50% of the vote in many locations, and the initial election night results are mostly results from electronic voting machines.

Made in China: Et Tu, Diebold? On Diebold's website they seem to infer they manufacture their machines here in the US. " .... Diebold has the unique capability to meet your election system requirements through expandable, tiered manufacturing utilizing our own US based facilities,... "

Representation by the Consent of the Governed? This ruling, if left to stand could spell the death knell for the peoples' right to legitimately elect our representatives. It also might explain the rush to electronic voting and some states (i.e. Florida) passing laws to make it illegal to conduct a recount by using the original paper ballots.

Forgetting the Past at our Peril It has been an ongoing frustration that many election officials have known of many vulnerabilities and yet keep trying to reassure the public that all is well. Many of us in this movement have uncovered risks, problems, and even evidence of fraud, reported it to the press and election officials, and then been ignored or ridiculed.
