The holiday season is here. It's the time to hear the melodic beeps of computer cash registers in our heads while making up lists of people we're giving useless shit to so we can show how much we love them.

Key Senate Republicans are close to demanding that President Bush end American military action in Iraq. It seems to be true. This morning, the White House asked GOP skeptics to the White House, where they tried to allay the concerns of Republican lawmakers.
Does this mean these Republican senators are "with the terrorists?"

The Republicans have been fooling us about various threats to the country for over sixty years. We'll we allow them to get away with this scheme again in 2006?

I got a little misty-eyed yesterday reading about poor old Barbaro. Barbaro was the spectacular horse that won the 2006 Kentucky Derby, only to suffer a tragic breakdown at last year's Preakness Stakes in Baltimore. Barbaro's untimely demise makes me think of another struggling animal, a bird that fought hard to win many races only to stumble in the end. This birds name is George W. Bush.

President Bush is thinking about increasing our troop levels in Iraq despite the American publics's demand for withdrawal from that conflict. What part of "no" can't this moron understand?

The president says we need to fight the terrorists over there so we don't have to fight them over here. But the terrorists are already here, and they aren't who the president thinks they are.

Gonzales was certainly not the brightest Attorney General we've had, but I have to wonder if his departure really means much. It's true that the chairs in this administration are moving around again- Presidential aide Karl Rove, and Press Secretary Tony Snow also announced their intent to move on from so-called public service- but essentially, the policies remain the same.

Not happy that they can contribute whatever amount of money to a candidate they wish, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons wants the 9th Circuit to abolish the voter approved elections measure so they can have more free speech rights than ordinary citizens.

When President Bush abrogates the rights of the people, Congress sleeps. But when Bush investigates Congress, its a whole other story.
Enough! The time has come to clean house and get rid of every last one of them from the President of the United States to the Congressional Sergeant-At-Arms.

"We need more civics lessons and less hysteria", wrote Amy Dalzell, an activist from the great, rebellious State of Kansas. Truer words have been committed to paper, but none as succinct as Dalzell's. Yet, when it comes to the upcoming 2006 midterms or almost any American election for that matter, hysteria is still favored over civics.

The elections are over, democrats across the country are jubilant about the shift in party power in Congress, and President Bush is making noises that sound slightly like conciliation. But did the overwhelming victory for democrats this year really signal a change in direction for our country?
I doubt it.
