I was raised an Armybrat, which gave me an appreciation for our military, diversity and travel. In my young adulthood I was a Republican, this in the days Republicans were still actually conservative. When the move began in earnest to push religion into our schools and Constitution, I left the Republican Party or, more to the point, my party left me. I later became a Democrat and have worked on various campaigns and efforts since. I am retired from the legal field and spend my time doing volunteer work with groups such as Pilot International. I also help to moderate a liberal IRC political channel on Undernet which promotes civil and informed debate on the various issues. I dabble at being an artist, preferring watercolors and Native American leather crafts. I enjoy growing gourds to make some of my drums and also use gourds for other projects such as birdhouses which are donated to various community groups to help with fundraising. I am known to be a political news junkie and like to see and to encourage informative debate on the issues. I would like to think I work towards positive change but, apparently, any positive change is hard to measure in today's world. I volunteer with OPN because I believe in responsible free speech and because it's refreshing to see support and encouragement for new writers. My bio, like me, is a work in progress.

REDNECKS VS. RAND PAUL, et al. Kentuckians have known for decades where Mitch McConnel stands when it comes to corporations vs. the American people. It's now clear who Rand Paul would have stood side by side with during The Redneck Insurrection of 1921 and, it's more than clear whose side he's on now. It's time to get Rednecked.

Rand Paul Excuses Not Appreciated In Kentucky There are some who may fall for the flimsy excuses offered by Kentucky Senate candidate Rand Paul engineered to absolve oil and mining corporations from any and all legal, monetary and moral responsibility for the recent deaths of miners and rig workers. Mr. Paul may be able to pull the wool over their eyes, but he can't do it to us. Kentuckians remember full well our state's distinction of being home to the 1988 crash at a b

Memo To Palin: Silence Is Golden Sarah Palin has become one of the few Republicans to break their odd silence regarding the massive oil spill now threatening the environmental and economic viability of much of the Gulf Coast. Mark Twain would enjoy her sudden urge to speak: "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." Sometimes silence is golden.

Per John McCain Senator Obama Is The Anti-Christ If this latest political strategy of the GOP and Senator McCain was not so un-Christian and un-American, their desperate attempt to portray a United States Senator as the anti-Christ would be laughable or at least generate a bit of pity.

Romney's WOW Factor Banning birth control pills or making them less accessible sounds unthinkable to those of us with any commonsense, doesn't it? Birth control pills being banned by Republican men who like to complain about welfare costs and "welfare queens" makes even less sense. One has to wonder why Republican men even try.
