In my run for U.S. Senate against Utah's Orrin Hatch, I posted many progressive ideas and principles that I internalized over the years. I'm leaving that site up indefinitely, since it describes what I believe most members of our species truly want: www.voteutah.us. I thank those who sent such wonderful comments, even though it forced me to go buy a few larger hats, which were among my top campaign expenses (just kidding). My forever-to-write novel (now my favorite book for some unfathomable reason), A Summer with Freeman, finally got out the door, via Kindle and CreateSpace. Readers of this site, and anyone else with two or more brain cells who want some "serious humorous relief" may want to check it out: http://www.opednews.com/articles/A-Summer-with-Freeman-nov-by-Daniel-Geery-130528-385.html My family and I lived off the grid in an earth-sheltered, solar powered underground house for 15 years, starting in the early '80s, proving, at least to myself, the feasibility of solar power. Such a feat would be much infinitely easier with off-the-shelf materials available now, though the bureaucracy holding us back is probably worse. http://www.opednews.com/articles/Living-on-Sunshine-Underg-by-Daniel-Geery-110318-547.html I wrote a book on earth-sheltered solar greenhouses that has many good ideas, but should be condensed from 400 down to 50 pages, with new info from living off the grid. It's on my "to do" list, but you can find used copies kicking around online. Just don't get the one I see for $250, being hawked by some capitalist... well, some capitalist. I'm 68 with what is now a 26 year old heart--literally, as it was transplanted in 2005 (a virus, they think). This is why I strongly encourage you and everyone else to be an organ donor--and get a heart transplant if you're over 50, unless your name is Dick Cheney. I may be the only tenured teacher you'll meet who got fired with a perfect teaching record. I spent seven years in court fighting that, only to find out that little guys always lose (http://www.opednews.com/articles/Letter-to-NEA-Leadership--by-Daniel-Geery-101027-833.html; recommended reading if you happen to be a parent, teacher, or concerned citizen). I managed to get another teaching job, working in a multi-cultural elementary school for ten years (we had well over 20 native tongues when I left, proving to me that we don't need war to get along--no one even got killed there!). http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_daniel_g_060716_alternatives_to_exti.htm I spent a few thousand hours working on upward-gliding airships, after reading The Deltoid Pumpkin Seed by John McPhee. But I did my modelling in the water, so it took only two years and 5,000 models to get a shape that worked. You can Google "aquaglider" to learn more about these. As far as I know, this invention represents the first alteration of Archimedes'principle, spelled out 2,500 years ago. "Airside," the water toys evolved into more of a cigar shape, as this was easier to engineer. Also, solar panels now come as thin as half a manila folder, making it possible for airships to be solar powered. You can see one of the four I made in action by Googling "hyperblimp"(along with many related, advanced versions). Along with others, I was honored to receive a Charles Lindbergh Foundation Award, to use my airships to study right whales off Argentina. Now we just have to make it happen and are long overdue, for reasons that would probably not fit on the internet. In 2010 I married a beautiful woman who is an excellent writer and editor, in addition to being a gourmet cook, gardener, kind, gentle, warm, funny, spiritual, and extremely loving. We met via "Plenty-of-Fish" and a number of seemingly cosmic connections. Christine wrote Heart Full of Hope, which many readers have raved about, as you may note on Amazon. I get blitzed reading the news damn near every day, and wonder why I do it, especially when it's the same old sh*t recycled, just more of it. In spite of Barbara Ehrenreich and reality, I'm a sucker for positive thinking and have read many books on it. I find many many of them insane and the source of much negativity on my part. My favorites these days are by Alan Cohen, who seems to speak my language, and likewise thinks a bit like Albert Einstein did (as do I on this note). Albert: "Try and penetrate with our limited means the secrets of nature and you will find that, behind all the discernible laws and connections, there remains something subtle, intangible and inexplicable. Veneration for this force beyond anything that we can comprehend is my religion. To that extent, in fact, I am religious." Though I rapidly note that I've kept alive my deceased and "devout atheist" friend's book, http://www.opednews.com/articles/The-Foundation-of-Religion-by-Daniel-Geery-110510-382.html Lastly, kudos to Rob Kall and those who make OEN the site that it is: one of the last bastions of free speech.

Who Directed the Course of the CIA? Which now directs the U.S. government... I can't say I "wrote the article," in fact I must deny it. However, I posted some comments below, as you'll see if you watch this video, which I highly recommend even if you just "jump through it" in ten minutes or so. Based on all I've read and heard, it is these two jokers, to say it way too politely, who had a major hand in steering misdirection of our resources, rape and plunder of other countries, and extinction.

How to Disappear One Billion or More Humans, in nine hours or less. Dr. Beckwith speaks with his usual clarity and truthfulness, pointing out what is the main problem that we are unlikely to fix, aka abrupt climate change. He seems to still hold out a few crumbs of hope, if you look at his website. Dr. Beckwith is one straight-up climatologist, presenting facts on his own time and dime, as he's done for years, and letting us draw our own conclusions.

Near Term Extinction, from yet another clear and truth-speaking climatologist This was done, evidently, in 2015. Sadly enough, things have GREATLY escalated since then, as we head toward total extinction in the next two to five years, as we've already got a great jump on, given that these things are well into "happening now." If it were up to me, we'd make a major effort to befriend Russia and have Putin and Trump get a serious grip...

Dr. Beckwith, a leading climatologist, reporting on Antarctica [in less than 15 minutes] Dr. Paul Beckwith reporting on Antarctica and global warming. His most informative talks are usually about the Arctic, closer to where lives, and the likely epicenter of climate change, particularly for the Northern Hemisphere. Dr. Beckwith makes an effort to keep his videos to 15 minutes, and I think this one is even a bit shorter.

Recent Observations of Climate Change, Worldwide I do like these two guys, "common folk" following along on climate change and speaking truth as they see it. Largely influenced by Dr. McPherson, who is (IMO) at the head of the climate change class. This particular video, about an hour or less, is largely about the on-going events in climate change...

A View of Climate Change from the Hinterlands of the Catskills Climate news from a "backwoods redneck" who speaks the truth. More like a podcast, as there is no video. I think I've said enough on climate change to not need to post some half-assed article here. Let's see if this "penultimate of short articles" is long enough to introduce this video.

On the Edge of Abrupt Climate Change, aka very near term extinction I've been aware of climate change warnings since 1977, after reading Energy for Survival, by the brilliant William Clark, who died in a car crash not too long after the book was published. My gut feeling is that he was snuffed on purpose and the book disappeared all too quickly from the public eye, though I certainly can't prove that. It would be the ideal book for fossil fuel companies to suppress...

A Clear and Present Danger, climate change well under way Arctic Sea-Ice is dying, with maximum thickness - 2 meters. Stuck jet-stream ridges with massive long-lived heat domes are cooking people, ecosystems, and crops, and creating unprecedented wildfires north of the Arctic Circle, with ash darkening ice and snow causing further rises in Arctic temperatures. Arctic monsoons with torrential rains are becoming a new phenomena.

Putting on our Thinking Caps, or kissing our asses goodbye. Three relatively short videos here, click here all worth the watch. I promptly add, "critically so." As much as I don't like sweeping generalizations, it certainly seems Americans have gone insane. I'm glad to see so many exceptions, of course, and hence this link to encourage others to "put on their thinking caps."

Climate Change Forecast Gets Hotter: Thom Hartmann with Dr. Michael Mann "Distinguished Professor of Meteorology Dr.Michael Mann joins the program with some ominous news, the science in understanding climate change is improving, and it's telling us we have even less time to do something about it!"--Thom Hartmann This ten minute video is an interview by Thom Hartmann with Dr. Michael Mann. From all I've read, Dr. Mann greatly understates the case.

End of the World as We Know It? Professor Simon Lewis and Professor Mark Maslin, two award-winning scientists, explain how the mass movement of people, exacerbated by NATO wars, has precipitated a global re-ordering of all life on Earth. The logic and known facts are presented in clear and concise detail, summarizing tomes of literature and research, also tying all this in to guaranteed basic income and more.

Graphic Video of "The State of the Planet"; not for the faint of heart, but clearly where we're headed... Many or most of the links I've posted on climate change have been knowledgeable parties speaking, in monologues or interviews. This one is truly graphic, as anyone watching it will quickly note. Planet Earth is going down much sooner than later, with abrupt climate change going on already, as this video tragically shows. Many or most models of climate change are based on linear projections...

Noam Chomsky, Half a Century too Late Just as Chomsky encouraged turning away from looking seriously into 9/11, the most important event in America since the JFK cia assassination, he is sadly lacking here. I like that he's finally talking about it, a half century or so too late, as it just might wake up a few people.

A Farewell to Ice, and very likely us. A video by Dr. Peter Wadhams Farewell to Ice is a video by the distinguished climatologist, Dr. Peter Wadhams, regarding how disappearing Arctic ice effects our entire planet. Which of course means all of us. I've posted many videos by other climatologists on OEN, particularly Dr. Guy McPherson. Guy claims to think most highly of Dr. Wadhams, but can't see how he reaches some of his conclusions--which themselves scare the hell out of me.

What Will Extinction Look Like? Do NOT watch this if you aren't interested in seeking truth. When will climate change start affecting live on earth? It started long ago, I would argue with humans discovering the use of fire, long before the explosion of agriculture. I am personally in the stage of acceptance to a large degree, in the grieving process, but can't deny flipping into depression far more than I'd like.

Climate Change is Already Taking Us Out Dr. Paul Beckwith tells it like it is, as far as climate change, and in this case, how it is already wiping out large segments of humans. A most mild and temperate speaking scientist rarely takes political positions but here is doing so in speaking a most humble truth to power.

"Federal Reserve" is a Crime--and wrecking the world to "make gold" on the Titanic This week Max Keiser and co-host, Stacy Herbert, look at gold's standing ovation for the Obama-Boehner debt ceiling theater. In the second half of the show, Max talks to Stefan Molyneux about the Fed audit and the debt ceiling. Economics we should all understand. Max Keiser tells it like it is, as always.

How Population Affects Climate Change I've been disappointed over the decades to see the word "population" largely disappear from the mouths and writings of environmentalists (which technically includes everyone who wants to stay alive on the planet...)
