It's all over for Hillary, or is it?dvd lab pro regkey

Yesterday, the DNC rules committee came out with a decision that seems to hand the primary to Obama. But Harold Ickes made it clear Hillary is holding her options open through July or even August and Denver. I've said it before. I'll be surprised if Hillary just caves in. This is not over yet. Hillary may tone it down, but she'll keep her options open until the convention. If Obama trips, she'll be there to step past him. But I think she's wised up that further attacks on him could destroy her future in the party. So she'll wait, hopefully.

Scott McClellan as Whistleblower-- NOT!

after putting down my dog Vanilla, on Friday, I wrote an article about it, and feeling in a forgiving mood, spoke kindly about Scott McClellan. I decided to write more about it today, especially after reading right winger Peggy Noonan, in yesterday's Wall Street Journal Op-Ed, who says,

"When I finished the book I came out not admiring Mr. McClellan or liking him but, in terms of the larger arguments, believing him. One hopes more people who work or worked within the Bush White House will address the book's themes and interpretations. What he says may be inconvenient, and it may be painful, but that's not what matters. What matters is if it's true. Let the debate on the issues commence.

What's needed now? More memoirs, more data, more information, more testimony. More serious books..."

And I got to thinking and wrote, on Friday that there was something good in what McClellan did. Some readers agreed with me. So today, after seeing him on Meet The Press, with Tim Russert, I thought I'd write a bit more about it.  After a few paragraphs, in which I was moving toward calling McClellan a whistleblower-- not a clean one, but a stinky one who, nonetheless was doing some good, I decided to ask one of my whistleblowing heroes-- Sibel Edmonds. Fortunately, she straightened me out, making it clear that he made money and really didn't disclose anything new. We ended up having a half hour conversation.

Sibel told me she absolutely did NOT see him as a whistle blower, based on the entire community of whistle blowers she's involved with-- the National Security whistleblowers coalition. She told me,

"We call these people opportunists, because that's exactly what he is. "

"He is not a whistle blower. It just makes me sick to see that much coverage of this guy."

She told me that real whistleblowers don't seek book contracts because, first, the government agencies can do major editing, and second, the editors themselves do more editing based on their own agendas. She cited Ann Wright's book, Dissent: Voices of Conscience, as an example of whistleblowers telling their story without censorship, but also without making any serious money. To be a whistleblower who makes a difference, she says, you really can't go for a big contract.

I'll be playing audio clips from my interview with Sibel on my new radio show, Wednesday night at 9:00 PM EST and I could use some help getting it transcribed. Any volunteers? I'll email it as two digital audio files.

Rob on the Radio New Day and Time

My show has a new day and time-- Wednesdays-- 9-10 PM EST.

I hope you'll listen and call in. You can listen locally in the Philly and south jersey area at 1360 AM or on line at www.wnjc1360.com

Sponsor the show. I'm looking for advertisers. Ad rates are very affordable-- as low as $25 for a 30 second ad if you pay for twelve at a time and run two or more a show. Or do four ads for $120. They can be spread over a number of shows.

Or be a major sponsor and become a part of the show. Run a 30 second ad AND actually be host for 3-5 minutes, depending on the fee you pay. We have room for one or two of these. Fees start at $75, with a four show minimum. Contact me to explore possibilities.

Become a Part of our Bottom Up Internship Program

OEN has the first of what I hope will be many interns. She's a college student. We've had inquiries from several non-students and we'll welcome both students and non-students. The internship program we're developing is evolving and I promise, it will be unique, like so much of what we do. Read on to see how you, as part or our community can get involved in helping our intern program. Or consider becoming an intern by committing to at least  8 hours a week.

What does Bottom Up look like?

I'm going to be talking a lot about "bottom up" and Top down bottom up" thinking. It's caught my imagination. It started with me realizing that the more I let go of responsibility and gave it to members of OEN, the better it did.

Bottom up thinking or approaching is the way that nature works. The universe is built from the bottom up-- energy and subatomic particles combine to produce neutrons, protons, electrons, then atoms, molecules and compounds. These combine to form complex organic compounds and finally, living cells. Cells combine to form organs and they all come together to form multicellular living creatures. Nature is bottom up. Life is bottom up.

Learning is bottom up to. We first learn to listen, to hear to understand, gradually recognizing sounds and intonation, then words, then phrases. We build our understanding of our selves and the world by accumulating stories that explain our selves, our families, culture, community, nation and world.

Indigenous tribes function and interact in ways with a bottom up approach-- sharing, making community decisions, interacting in a peaceful, nature-respecting way with the environment.

But the world also functions in many ways from a top down approach. When humans became civilized, the idea of hierarchy was accentuated. Kings, Queens, Emperors, Empresses, Popes, High Priests, Lords, serfs, slaves and workers became part of the culture. The patriarchal, male dominated social model has existed for millennia.

But now that is changing. in Howard Dean's 2004 presidential campaign, Joe Trippi showed that bottom up fund raising and meeting organizing could be very effective. Trippi says that the Obama campaign used bottom up approaches to beat the most successful top down campaign in history-- Hillary Clinton's.

Everywhere you look, bottom up thinking is making inroads. Mohamed Yunus used microlending to change the way the world thinks about helping the poor-- and he won a Nobel Prize for his brilliant, courageous, culture challenging work.

Bottom up approaches can be very powerful, but they don't have to operate alone. I learned this from 25 years in the field of Positive Psychology. You don't have to give up and throw away all the approaches that conventional pathology oriented psychology have to offer in order to tap the power and potential of Positive Psychology. Similarly, you don't have to throw away top-down thinking and approaches, but you do want to make sure you dont' ignore or exclude bottom up thinking.

Here at OpEdNews, we're starting a new internship program. I've asked some of our editors to get involved, but that's top down. I'd like to get all of you-- any who wish to participate-- involved in the program, to tap "the wisdom of the crowd,"-- the bottom up approach.

Here's my idea. I'll tell you a bit about our first intern, then you will get involved by suggesting projects and things to do to help her get some good experience and develop skills the challenge her and help her to grow.

To respect her confidentiality, initially, you can post to the diary I create with this message. As I work things out with her, she will contact those of you who we decide will be beneficial, or she'll let you all know who she is. It'll be her choice.

Our intern is going into her sophomore year at a state college in PA. She loves writing. She's not very into politics, but willing to learn and knows that to make a difference, you have to know about politics, and she wants to make a difference. She loves being on-line, and her favorite website is the extremely popular kitsch culture blog-- Perez Hilton. One assignment I want to give her is to write up a description of what Perezhilton is all about. Our intern is fascinated with the celebrities Perezhilton reports on.

Here's the first assignment I've given her. To get involved, take a look at the description of our internship program that we've put out for students and volunteers to see. (You don't have to be a student to become an intern here. ) Then, think about assignments and thinks our first intern and future interns can get involved in. Bottom up approaches work when the grassroots get involved.

 First Assignment

Now, here's your first assignment. It is in the wierd news category, and I'm going to show, how to tie in both politics and perezphilton type kitsch.

There's a story about a tribe in South America, I think in Brazil, near the Peruvian border. The stories report that they've never seen modern people or technology before.

I'd like you to find several articles on this and write it up. Part of the story is that there is a group that wants to protect these people, this culture/tribe from being destroyed by exposure to modern man.

They took pictures from a plane and you can see that the people are upset-- holding spears and bows and arrows ready.

Do some research on it, not just the specific story, but the idea of indigenous tribes people being threatened by logging, mining, and evangelical interests.

Research the organization that is trying to protect them. Find out about other related  tribes of primitives.

I believe that these cultures represent a part of being human that is rare and precious, that converting them to modern religion or technology is not necessarily good for them or anyone else, that they have things to teach us... if we can learn from them without killing them with transmitted diseases and without destroying their culture by luring and addicting them with technology.

Now, here's where your interests come into this. There can be a celebrity angle to this. There are celebrities who work to protect the rainforests and who will care about these people as I do. Find out who. I'd start by guessing Angelina Jolie and Madonna. I don't think anyone has contacted them yet.

Do your homework on this so you can discuss the story intelligently and knowledgably with me and we'll consider you contacting them for this story. But you have to do it pretty fast, since the story is already a day old.

If you can pull a celebrity into this story, it might even get picked up by Perez Hilton.

Here's a head start:
'UNCONTACTED TRIBE' in Amazon photographed by researchers.

Once you do your homework and research on this, I also have some names of people I know who may be of help.
