Bordering on Fascism: Scholars Reflect on Dangerous Times
There is NO crisis at the U.S.-Mexican border. There is NOTHING remotely like an influx of terrorists across the border. The U.S. did NOT detain "nearly 4,000 suspected terrorists" at the southern border in 2018. There is NO increase in attempted illegal entry, which is at a 20-year low. Building such a wall will do NOTHING to make the United States safer from terrorist attacks, dangerous drugs, and gang violence.

Has the Ruling Class Finally Had Enough of Trump?
Trump is a new and different kind of presidential animal. He makes no pretense of himself, the presidency or the United States being about anything more than mercenary and socio-pathological self-interest. He gives not one flip about racial and ethnic diversity, equality or the state of global affairs, much less the fate of our planet.

Could This Be Our Best Hope of Removing Trump From Office?
Impeachment alone probably wouldn't trigger a right-wing uprising. But impeachment followed by the unlikely prospect of removal, which requires 67 votes in the Republican-majority U.S. Senate, might well make it happen. So too could invoking the 25th Amendment on the grounds that Trump is incapable of performing his presidential duties.

Two Populisms, Not One
A left-leaning social-democratic "progressive populism" targets the capitalist concentration of wealth and power and the unbridled pursuit of private profit as enemies of the people and the common good. This populism is egalitarian and radically democratic. It tends towards socialism.

Can a New Political Party Save America From Itself?
Democrats are most able to effectively and deceptively pose as a popular opposition party and to claim that the solution to the nation's problems is to vote them into power. They expose their corporatism when they hold key elected positions and reveal themselves as entirely inadequate to the task of representing the people.

The McCain and Bush Death Tours: Establishment Rituals in How to be a Proper Ruler
The anti-intellectual orange monstrosity has been stripping the American system of its outward veneer of decency, democracy, and sophistication. The vulgar p*ssy-grabber yanks the elegant, fake-friendly, multilateral shroud off the avaricious national[ist] beast of class rule and Empire. Man-Child Trump couldn't care less about how he became a billionaire. He's all for one thing -- himself.

America Has Desegregated in Name Only
More than half a century after the passage of the Civil Rights Act, the call for racial and socioeconomic desegregation in the United States remains as urgent as ever, no matter how many black and brown faces appear on our movie, television and computer screens.

Trump's Endless Mendacity and the Dawn of American Fascism
The Trump Lie Machine is going into head-spinning and soul-numbing overdrive as the midterm elections draw closer. Trump claimed earlier this year that leftist violence will break out across the country if Democrats reclaim Congress in the upcoming midterm elections. The absurdity speaks for itself.

When America Was Great, Savage White Un-Settlers Raped a Continent and Assaulted a Planet
"America's" old, rich, and white masters (Trump is just one of many) -- our parasitic "tamers" and takers -- think they can pull up the drawbridges to restrict the coming environmental apocalypse to the poor and nonwhite global South and save the dwindling supply of life's necessities and luxuries for themselves and their families in heavily guarded and automated compounds. But it doesn't work that way.
So, How's That Major-Party Election Madness Working for Us?
Real progressive change requires popular organization and great social movements beneath and beyond the empty promises of the nation's ruthlessly time-staggered major-party, major-media, big-money-candidate-centered ballot box extravaganzas.

The American Sea of Deception
Armed with Twitter and a mad and malignantly narcissistic penchant for twisting facts and truth in accord with his own ever-shifting sense of what serves his interests and hurts his perceived foes, this monstrosity is gaslighting the last flickering embers of civic democracy at a velocity that would make Goebbels green with envy.

Reflections on Media Gone Russia-Wild
FOX News may function as Trumpian state screwball television, but CNN and MSNBC have become Trump-mad dumpster fires in their own right. Their daily, hour-by-hour obsession with the latest breaking Trump-Russia story angle has gone full-on Crazy Train. It's Trump-Russia, Trump-Russia, 24/7, the bizarre beat of a mass media gone mad.

No Liberal Rallies Yet for the Children of Yemen
We have yet to learn of any large and widespread U.S. demonstrations on behalf of the children and families of Yemen, where the U.S. is deeply complicit in the creation of a situation that "looks," in the words of the United Nations' humanitarian chief, "like the Apocalypse."

Time to Stop Playing "Simon Says" with James Madison and Alexander Hamilton
As the United States' depressed, distracted, disorganized, and demobilized populace watches the vicious white-nationalist and authoritarian Donald Trump and the arch-reactionary Republican Party craft a Supreme Court yet further to the right of majority public opinion, the worst of the nation's slave-owning Founders might just be heard chuckling in their graves.

Trump's Trade Tantrum: On Tipping Points and Authoritarian Peril
If trade wars escalate and help push global capitalism -- itself already ripe for a collapse -- into the ditch, throwing tens of million people out of work, Trump and his authoritarian white-nationalist fans and FOX News flaks will blame it on the "unfair" Chinese and/or the Europeans and/or the Canadians and Mexicans.

Kidnapper Trump as Symptom
The U.S. news cycle revolves around "Today in Trump," giving little hint that the White House's current menacing occupant is just a symptom of deadly and richly bipartisan societal diseases rooted in the living and intertwined histories of class rule, empire, racial oppression, patriarchy and ecocide.

None of Us are Free, One of Us is Chained
If you are serious about progressive change, you take into the streets, the offices, the shop-floors, the town-square, the pipeline construction sites, the police stations, the prisons, the army bases, the dean's offices, the plant managers' offices, the detentions centers, the ruling class abodes and haunts, the airports, etc.

The Chomsky Challenge for Americans
The world's only superpower, the only nation to ever attack civilians with nuclear weapons, is embarking on a super-expensive top-to-bottom overhaul of a U.S. nuclear arsenal that already houses 5,500 weapons with enough menacing power between them to blow the world up five times over.

Rotten to the Heart: Authoritarian Chickens Roosting at Home
If Trump is as much of a dangerous and authoritarian monster as liberal Democrats say he is (and he is), then why, pray tell, have most Democrats in Congress been willing to grant him record levels of military funding along with re-authorized and expanded warrantless surveillance and spying powers?
