Peggy Butler is a freelance writer based in North Central Florida. She has written for various magazines and Internet publications including Africana.com., TimBook Tu, and Emerging Minds (a popular ezine based in Atlanta). Moreover, Butler who lists collecting 60s memorabilia among her hobbies, writes news, features, sports and entertainment articles, as well as commentaries and humor pieces. Butler released her first book in 2004 (My Head is Bloody But Unbowed), a candidly raw collection of 40 commentaries symbolizing the Afrocentric Experience, with topics ranging from the typical analytical subjects (racism, affirmative action, police brutality) to the dirty laundry, aka short comings; color consciousness (light vs. dark) Black-on-Black violence and parents who tend to place more emphasis on athletics than academics.

Butler began her journalism career in 1989 as a writer for Mahogany Revue; an African-American oriented newspaper located in North Central Florida. During her tenure, she wrote over 400 articles on topics of every genre, from Women on Death Row
to How to Finance A Small Business.

Similarly, she assisted the publisher in all phases
of journalism, from editing to rewriting press releases. In 1999, the Florida native decided to pursue
freelance writing, something she secretly longed to
do, but was reluctant to try. Now 12 years and 700 articles later, she is living her dream. However, a sluggish economy has effected the writing
community as well as other professions, leaving her
in less demand as a freelance writer, a trend she
hopes will change quickly.

Inundated with a shy demeanor, Butler's areas of specialty include every thing from eating disorders
to relationships. Her articles have appeared in
various magazines and Internet publications
including, Impact Press, Africana.com. TimBook Tu,
and Emerging Minds (a popular ezine based
in Atlanta).
