Why would you believe what the GOP says anyway? The article "Its Working Because I Say So!" at
http://cgi.wn.com/?action=display&article=55090409&template=worldnews/paidnews.txt&index=recent
explains that "The political strategy of using untruths readily retracted by politicians as misspeaking, with acceptance by the American people of this explanation without question because it is difficult to believe their leaders to be dishonest, has become the new normal."
W is in a "state of denial" and sends out his attack dog, Cheney, to attack Senator Reid. Cheney attacks Reid at Reid's podium and sputters out stale lies that were reminiscent of the "insurgents' death throes" at an earlier time.
W is vetoing the bill. What is his responsibility in this funding of the troops debacle now being played out by the brutish GOP thugs.
Big bro 43 has stated frequently that he wouldn't support any plans to partition Iraq, but his military is erecting barriers to keep the sects in Baghdad away from each other, a very concrete step towards partitioning.
The article "In Baghdad, U.S. troops build wall to curb violence" at
has the sub-headline of "But residents aren't happy with the barrier cutting of a Sunni district from surrounding Shiite areas." Why would Iraqis care more about ease of transportation than securing their country? They have ages old hatreds of each other. They would rather have an easy way to kill their enemies, even if it means that their enemies will also have an easier way to kill them.
The article points out just how chaotically big bro 43 is implementing "the surge" as "The ambitious project is a sign of how far the U.S. military will go to end the bloodshed in Iraq. But U.S. officials denied that it was a central tactic of the U.S.-Iraqi security crackdown launched Feb. 13.
"We defer to commanders on the ground, but dividing up the entire city with barriers is not part of the plan," U.S. military spokesman Army Lt. Col. Christopher Garver said Thursday."
Don't the commanders on the ground know what their bosses want? No because W just slap-dashed this "surge" together and didn't methodically analyze, design and implement this tactic because he's incompetent. Our boys and girls in the US military are still dying and the commanders on the ground don't know what they are supposed to do during the "surge", just as they didn't during the earlier stages of the occupation!
Who else hates the idea of building walls to curb violence? The article points out that "Shiite and Sunni Arabs living in the shadow of the barrier were united in their contempt for the imposing new structure."
We were supposed to respect the sovereign government of Iraq, but we build walls without their approval without understanding that they would hate it.
