Why I Am Voting for The Democrats Part II

This is the Second in a series of articles about the reason I am voting Democrat this year. My first article seemed to rock the boat a little. I didn't for a minute believe that anyone with a conscience could not see the points I have been trying to make. I was portrayed as a person that didn't know what end was up in the political spectrum. Well I do. I have probably tried, as much as anyone, to change the political direction of this country. Sometimes I feel that no matter what I propose, there will always be somebody telling me just how wrong I am. I don't care. I know how far the United States has shifted to the right. I also know that the Democrats are financed by and large, by the same people that finance the Republicans, only less is given to them by corporate America. Unions make up the difference. This is precisely why I am writing these articles. I want people to realize and understand just how important it is that we stop the right wing branch of the Republican party. The only way I can see that happening, is to vote for the Democrats in 2006, as unappealing as that may be to some people, including myself. To protest and refuse to vote, only helps the right. Republicans might not do anything right, but they vote. That is why they have had the Congress and the Senate since 1994. That is one reason why this world is like it is.

The Republicans promised a tax cut. They gave American's a 10% across the board tax cut. If I make $30,000.00 I will save $300.00 on my taxes. If I have made Five Million Dollars as CEO of a medium sized business, I have saved $500,000.00! That is a school budget for an average sized school district. The Republicans have the nerve to claim that this "extra" money that they have added to this persons pocketbook, is going to be put back into the company or spent on merchandise made by Americans, or somehow, someway, benefit all Americans. Sure it will. I can tell you where it will go. It will probably end up in an offshore account, or in the portfolio of investments that this person has, so that more money can be made. It will not help the middle class in America in any way, shape or form. This is a giant giveaway program. They buy the middle class off with four, five or six hundred dollars, and the mega-rich get millions. Let me tell you this, they are all laughing at the middle class while they do it.

We will NEVER have National Healthcare as long as we have the Republicans in power. Shall I give you the figures of how much the Medical PAC's and the Insurance companies, and the Trial Lawyers associations as well as the Dentists and the Unions have donated to make sure it never happens? Go to opensecrets.org and take a look. Don't trust me to tell you. My brother pays $500.00 a month along with the amount that his employer kicks in for health care. Do you believe his taxes would go up $500.00 a month on $35,000.00 a year if we had single-payer National Healthcare. I don't think it would. I would bet on it. All the politicians have health insurance provided by the government, yet the Republicans have actually said to people "Do you want the government to decide your healthcare?" The politicians sure don't seem to mind. I have TRICARE from the military, and they do a good job for me, and I pay nothing. How the Republicans have managed to stop America from insuring the health of Americans is something I'll never figure out. I know how they do it, with scare tactics and terrible scenarios of inflation and terrible taxation. I just don't understand why Americans fall for it.

The abuse of Americans that this "war on terror" allows. These wiretaps without warrants, and all the rest of it. With a Democratic Congress and a Democratic Senate, it will be possible to impeach George W. Bush. This is probably the most important thing a Democratic Congress could do. I am sure that Cheney would find himself in impeachment hearings also. The next president would be The Speaker of The House, and that would be a Democrat. It could be Nancy Pelosi, or it could be someone else. Either way, it would be a better administration than the one we currently have. Iraq is in a civil war, the Taliban are making a resurgence in Afghanistan, North Korea has the bomb, The Iranians will have one soon. The people in Latin America hate us and are electing socialist governments that detest us. The only ally we have is Great Britain, and there I am not so sure that Tony Blair is not the only one that supports us.

So you think I am being naive by voting Democratic? I believe that I am doing the only thing that can be done in 2006. Maybe by 2008 we will have found a way to eliminate this Corporacracy that seems to select our politicians and pay for their campaigns. Maybe we will find a way to start a third party, or Americans will stop "party politic" altogether and vote for people with vision and fair mindedness. How we may achieve that is something we all need to work on. Right now, at this moment, we need to get the far right out of Washington. Stay tuned for part three., I don't make this stuff up.
