After thinking about our conversation about your struggle to respect, honor and stay loyal to the troops you fought with in Iraq who died, i believe that Honor and Loyalty Demand you Reject this War and Its supporters in the White House and Congress
Discovering you or your kin were betrayed is not dishonorable. Cating in good faith is honorable. Denying the truth and continuing to fight, continuing to support a liar president and his lying congressional cronies --that is dishonorable.
Honor is a something you earn and maintain by keeping a certain attitude towards life, towards responsibility, towards the tough challenges life throws at you. It is easier to be honorable when things seem very clear. Your commander in chief tells you your country is threatened. There is a bad guy who possesses powerful weapons which could destroy our nation or our friends. You volunteer to fight to protect our nation, our freedoms, our democracy.
Then things get complicated and muddy. There are no weapons. The bad guy is a jerk, but there are dozens of jerks just like him and the other ones aren 't worth going after, just as he isn 't. And your commander and chief and his friends have begun to dismantle the very freedoms you went to fight for, or your buddies fought and died to protect.
When do see that your loyalty to the troops who died while you were with them does not mean you have to keep supporting the war you were fighting? When do you see that it is because of your loyalty to those troops who died or were horribly injured that you must begin to oppose the war and oppose the liar who sent you and your fellows there? When will you realize that the most honorable, loyal way you can stand up for the dead 2000 and wounded 15,000 is to face the truth and speak it, to demand that the war be ended and that the remaining troops be brought home quickly, not waiting for years, but within the next year?
There is a pain that comes with facing hurtful truths that can exceed the pain of a battlefield wound. The pain is worsened by the forced change in your understanding of reality. You must face ideas and perspectives that you never thought you 'd imagine. Yo may have to turn the reality you used to live in upside-down. The people who you trusted betrayed you. The people they said were not trustworthy are the ones where you find the truth.
Times are hard. Giving meaning to death and sacrifice is a supreme challenge. You want to get it right. It 's not about the freedom of the Iraqis. It 's not about spreading democracy. Those were lies the war liars spread around to grease the tank treads and cannon barrels. We haven 't protected the US or the world from terrorism. We 've made it worse.
Wake up and see that the best way to show your loyalty is to raise your voice and speak out against this dishonestly started war, to support the troops by expeditiously bringing them home. Keep your honor and honor the fallen by speaking out and telling the truth so all will hear and all will know. Honor your lost loved ones by protecting the democracy they fought for by insisting upon punishment for the liars who deceived them into going into a war based on false premises. There is no honor without facing the truth.
