Show, don’t tell. Demonstrate by example, don’t demand. Solve, don’t complain.
Want world peace? Start by ending the war in your head. Waging war on war is not peacemaking. Violent emotions, words and actions begat only more of the same. Peace is the only way to peace.
Want to end wanton greed and its ravenous decimation of people and the environment? Be grateful for what you already have instead of whining about what you want and don’t have. For greed - whether it is the love of money, power or status - is the root of all cancerous consumerism and infectious imperialism.
Tired of simple-minded zealots who divide the world into good and evil? Seek relief by letting go of being a proper devotee of your own chosen creed/belief system. Try appreciating the wonder of being human. Maybe you will realize that we are all made out of the same DNA and have more in common than our senseless arguments over who is the most ignorant.
Tired of low-down, high-spending negative political campaigns? Then begin by giving up politics as usual, as a form of warfare, and learn to embrace your opponents as the pupils of your own eyes. Love your enemies as yourself. Forgive them their politics as they may forgive yours.
Be just as willing to work on yourself as you are to work on others. Ask nothing that you are not willing to do yourself. Remember how hard it is to change your slightest fault when demanding others to immediately recast themselves to fit your lofty standards of perfection.
Had enough of human rights violations and oppression? Cease and desist demonizing people who disagree with you. Quit calling them names, caricaturing their views, and making them into Straw Men ready for mob burning. Stop acting as if anyone who disagrees with you is stupid or evil and deserves elimination in the endless struggle of survival of the fit throwers.
Sick of loud mouth, know-it-all, opinionated jerks on television? Start with the image in the mirror.
Feed up with adrenaline fueled news? Chill, Chicken Little.
Had enough of celebrities getting all the attention? Don’t try to be one.
Tired of all the whining and complaining and lack of accepting of personal responsibility and waiting on someone else to do something? (Refrain, same key, without fading, repeated until sustained crescendo.)
