George W. is attempting to scare us into giving his choking presidency the Heimlich Maneuver. Let's tell him we've had enough. And definitely yell it to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow and Republican Party Chairman Ken Mehlmen because all of them are trying to convince us that the "thwarted" terrorist plot in Great Britain means that the neo-con agenda is spot on.
In the words of Sen. John Kerry, defending his party, "Osama bin Laden is still on the loose." Finally, Democrats are making an effort to harmonize. Still, they aren't speaking the truth. CNN News correspondent Christiane Amanpour is though. And so are Muslims all over the world. The message is this: Our foreign policy is breeding terrorists. Yes, our racist-themed policy in the Middle East is the inspiration for terrorism that will be with us as long as the United States continues its domination of the world's resources and the exploitation of people who live in those countries that have quantities of anything our leaders covet.
Scarier than the elusive terrorist mastermind of September 11, 2001, is the president of the United States, himself, who keeps saying, ad nauseam, "They're jealous of our freedoms." To this I say, "Bushwa." Look it up. It's actually a term and infinitely appropriate.
My husband and I were talking earlier today about just how low Bush's I.Q. must be. If the times weren't so perilous, everything the president says would be thigh-slapping funny. But one of the most frightening aspects is that he takes himself seriously. He is always right-NEVER makes a mistake. (Big deal that he finally, finally admitted that "bring 'em on" was inappropriate) He is George W. Bush who will be judged by history, not the present and, therefore, in his view, the present be damned.
It certainly seems that it is. Tragically, so, too, may be our future as a result of George's presence in the White House.
We have squandered the respect of most of the world with our invasion of Iraq. But our dumber-than-a-euglena president has folded this disaster into the "global war on terra" to make it palatable.
Not one 9/11 hijacker was from Iraq. Nor are the alleged terrorists arrested last week in Great Britain. But our money, yours and mine, and the lives of our children are being spent to level Iraq, its people, and our military.
George Bush is a vicious cycle of disaster. The more he destroys, the more there will be to destroy.
September 11 is forever seared in our souls as the day our way of life changed. It could have been an opportunity. No one expected us to turn the other cheek. We should have pursued those responsible. And we should have examined why we're hated-but this would have required a level of intelligence beyond the capacity of George W. Bush.
