Oh, but reality is sometimes stranger than fiction. This is not a movie and these things are really happening, while John Q. Public is busy watching the Knicks on TV, as if it were the most important issue of the day. Millions of Americans are lost in Survivor and American Idol while real world news goes begging for an audience. The Bill O’Reilly’s are singing to their own chorus while Keith Olbermann is singing to his, all the while the fabric of our republic goes down the tubes with hardly a whimper. When we wake from this miserable dream that is the tenure of George W. Bush in the White House, what will emerge? Will we ever be able to make this person just go away, or are we stuck with him for life?
These are the questions that Americans should be asking themselves. When a President purges the Federal bench with less than two years left of his last term, what is the reasoning behind that? The Bush regime states that the judges have not prosecuted “voter fraud” relentlessly enough. That is like Hitler firing the Reichstag because someone burned the Reichstag building down. It all smacks of wanton lies and misdirection. Of course there is voter fraud, voter fraud perpetrated by the current administration. This war on terror is a fraud, also perpetrated by this administration. The American people however, blithely watch their television screens and hope that Regis Philbin pulls through his bypass surgery and that maybe someday it will rain in Darfur so that people would quit asking them for donations over the internet.
We have become a nation of sheep, a people without a voicea. We continue to “rubber stamp” candidates that corporations endorse and allow into the political arena. They are just another diversion. They are hand picked by PAC’s that will support them by giving dollars to their campaign war chests while the real movers and shakers are regulated to sit on the sidelines watching corporate talking heads such as Hillary and Obama. They have already been anointed. Real statesmen like Dennis Kucinich have been left in obscurity while the corporate poster children vie for that brass ring of the Presidency, and while George Bush manipulates behind the scenes seemingly talking like a lame duck, but acting like a dictator clearing the way for his dictatorship. After it’s over, and the United States finds itself under a new form of government, much the same as Rome did, we will all be asking the question “What Happened”?.
