It is "1984" and these unannounced, tyrannical, totalitarian thugs are getting ready to burn the books to deliver "right thought" to the masses.
People think that this administration is corrupt and destroying the tapes is the last straw, but W is going to stonewall to the end. He thinks that if his term is over then no one can do anything to him! Why can't they? Joe Biden wants an independent counsel over the destruction of the CIA torture tapes.
The fact that the White House declined comment Sunday on Biden's suggestion or remarks by other lawmakers and candidates isn't surprising neither is it that White House press secretary Dana Perino said the administration stands by spy agency's director Michael Hayden and supports the Justice Department's effort to "gather facts"-if, and only if, we lived in a totalitarian regime.
What Musharraf is doing in Pakistan isn't more repressive than what W is attempting now and no one has ever compared Pakistan's commitment to freedom to the US'.
Too many within the most current scandal are opening their mouths and consequentially stumbling all over the lies that the other crooks have made.
Hayden told CIA employees that the recordings were destroyed out of fear the tapes would leak and reveal the identities of interrogators. He said the sessions were videotaped to provide an added layer of legal protection for interrogators using new, harsh methods authorized by President Bush as a way to break down the defenses of recalcitrant prisoners.
Regarding the latter part of Hayden's misinformation, if the tapes were for an "added layer of legal protection" why were they destroyed? Doesn't Hayden want them to be protected any longer?
The former part of Hayden's statement is propaganda, as the agent is outing himself because he has a guilty conscience, thus negating Hayden's number one rationale.
The article "Waterboarding Recounted -- Ex-CIA Officer Says It 'Probably Saved ives' but Is Torture" at
details that "A former CIA officer who participated in the capture and questioning of the first al-Qaeda terrorist suspect to be waterboarded said yesterday that the harsh technique provided an intelligence breakthrough that "probably saved lives," but that he now regards the tactic as torture.
Zayn Abidin Muhammed Hussein abu Zubaida, the first high-ranking al-Qaeda member captured after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, broke in less than a minute after he was subjected to the technique and began providing interrogators with information that led to the disruption of several planned attacks, said John Kiriakou, who served as a CIA interrogator in Pakistan."
Hayden and Bush are trying to protect themselves, but "The recordings were destroyed despite orders from judges that required the government to preserve records related to its interrogation programs. The lawsuits were filed by captives at the Guantanamo Bay military prison who were contesting their detentions.
Also yesterday, the House intelligence committee's chairman, Silvestre Reyes (D-Tex.), and ranking Republican Pete Hoekstra (Mich.) announced that the panel is launching its own investigation into the tapes' destruction. Reyes and Hoekstra said in a statement that Hayden's assertion that the committee had been "properly notified" of the destruction "does not appear to be true."
And what about the man they tortured? The flights of fancy which he concocted to make the pain end have been used to scare US citizens since 9/11, but they were lies.
Maybe Abu Zubaida is as highly placed a terrorist as Hussein's WMD were an "imminent threat" to us-which is not at all! He can't be as successful as "Mission Accomplished" was or we'd all be learning Islam now!
Nothing from this crew is credible as the article "Biden Wants Special Counsel in Tape Case" at
states "A Senate Democratic leader said Sunday the attorney general should appoint a special counsel to investigate the CIA's destruction of videotaped
interrogations of two suspected terrorists.
