The knowledge of plants as medicine and food is traditionally passed from mothers to daughters by the Awajà ºn women of northern Peru, but they had come perilously close to losing that wisdom. Now they have created a "women's forest" featuring traditional plants and traditional knowledge that has grown into a thriving tourism trade and a burgeoning tea business, and they are recovering their ancestral traditions on their cell phones.
