The current headlines are occupied with the news related with a military standoff between China and India. In fact, this standoff may beget a war that can inflict such deadly harm to humanity that it will never be restored. The likely war due to the detonation of WMDs (weapons of mass destruction) can devastate the present most developed civilizations of 21st century. It can be a cause of continental fatality.
Undoubtedly, this standoff must come to normalization. There is certain rhetoric behind why should it be defused, which can be taken into account as follows: Firstly, the prosperous life of humanity equipped with amenities, luxuries and affluence is remarkably unprecedented as compared to the previous eras that were full of miseries due to conflicts and wars. Any inflammatory development is unfair for human prosperity.
Secondly, the economic catastrophe would erupt if the said war escalates to the uncontrollable extent. The war would have very negative impacts for not only China and India but also for the entire world. The maritime trade routes would be badly affected, leaving the trans-continental shipments ceased, which would cause a serious blow to the economic potential of states across the world on one hand and leave human survival as questionable on the other. It would also be zero-sum for industrial growth that would put the global economies in a chaotic situation. Humanity would experience very harsh difficulties vis-a-vis finding bread and butter.
Thirdly, the development of nuclear-capable arsenal is really a turning point in the history of induction of the sophisticated weaponry as per the circumstances because the sole objective behind the weapons prior to the nuclearization remained obviously to dominate the war scenario. However, the nuclear weapons have made the commencement of war as a dreadful nightmare. A rational decision maker thinks multi-pronged options before he would decide to use the nuclear weapon. So, it is considered as deterrence as the scholars believe it. On the matter of Sino-India standoff and the likely war, the mentioned-above historical change must be availed. It must deter the likely escalation of war.
The war mongering must stop on both sides because of the following reasons:
A. Both China and India maintain nuclear arsenals that are enough to destroy the whole world several times.
B. Both countries are the topmost populous countries in the world sharing 38% of the entire world population.
C. China is the economic superpower in the world whereas India emerges as a country with economy that has a potential to become the next economic superpower.
Accordingly, the war would destroy all economic miracles on both sides. The 38% population of the world as mentioned above would immediately be lost. The remaining world would also be bleeding due to radioactivity in the wake of nuclear detonation. It is important to include that the planet would be unfit for taking even a normal sigh. Therefore, it is of significant importance for the two sides to pull back the troops to their normal deployment.
To wind up, there should be a rational decision on both sides. The sacrifice of some national goals will also be costly that the escalation of war. The global community should also take an idealistic approach for ensure peace at every cost in the said above conflict-prone region.
