Many Democrats and others are afraid that Trump will eke out another electoral college victory. It's not going to happen. While Teflon Don has survived Stormy Daniels, Billie Bush and his Access Hollywood confession, battles with John McCain and Mitt Romney, he will not survive death by one thousand cuts. Donald, we hardly knew ye then. Now America knows who Donald Trump really is.

The phrase "death by a thousand cuts" is derived from a form of Chinese torture known as lingchi, where a person is subjected to hundreds of small cuts until death occurs. Trump and his base will be tortured by continuing injuries due to Trump's disrespect for the military, disrespect for women and disrespect for scientists.

Military

The Atlantic magazine recently revealed that President Trump stated that he considers soldiers and sailors to be suckers and losers. Four hundred and eighty nine retired generals and other military leaders issued a statement recently in support of Vice President Biden's presidential campaign, "We are Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. We love our country. Unfortunately, we also fear for it. The COVID-19 pandemic has proven America needs principled, wise, and responsible leadership." Newly retired generals, including Air Force General Paul Selva, the former vice chairman of the Trump administration's Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Vice Admiral and Navy Seal leader Gardner Howe, who both retired in 2019, were among the retired military personnel endorsing Biden. Cindy McCain, the wife of heroic Senator John McCain, has also endorsed Biden. Opinion polls show that rank and file members of the military are now moving their support from Trump to Biden.

Women

Twenty-six women have accused Donald Trump of sexual improprieties. At least one, E. Jean Carroll, has accused him of rape. When Trump called her a liar, she sued him for defamation. Trump cannot stand the sight of a strong woman. He calls them "monsters" (Senator Kamala Harris), "nasty" (Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, the Dutchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle,Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and others),"bimbos" (Megyn Kelly) among other sexist epithets. These cuts are causing the hemorrhaging of suburban women voters from the Republican column. Polls demonstrate that suburban women are shifting strongly to Biden. Suburban women will control this election.

Disrespect for Scientists

President Trump's disdain for the advice of scientists, from Dr. Anthony Fauci to the Center for Disease Control, and his denial of human-caused climate change, has been another source of deep and lasting cuts. Trump admitted to Bob Woodward that he intentionally misled the public about the ferocity of Covid 19. His disdain for the wearing of masks alone has caused a hundred thousand deaths. And each death has cut deeply into Trump's support. Thousands of Trump supporters, many who have lost loved ones, have switched to Vice President Biden because he did not respect the advice of scientists.

Trump's support will not rebound. We now know who he is. American voters gave him a chance in 2016 and he has failed miserably. We did not know his tax avoidance then. Now we know that he is a tax cheat and a poor businessman, losing hundreds of millions of dollars. Trump calls everyone who pays their fair share of taxes stupid. You can fool the American people once, but you cannot fool us again.

Just a different look at the category of "Military".

The way the media does it, and Pelosi stated this as a strategy, one source states, as a fact, statements by unnamed persons. Then other media outlets begin reporting on the unsubstantiated report. Then it becomes, "The widely reported incident where Trump called dead soldiers 'losers".

Then you have the impressive, "Four hundred and eighty nine retired generals and other military leaders". Well in the general category of "military leaders" you can compare that number to the number of people working at the different government agencies concerned with National Defense, and it comes out to more than 603,000. It would seem likely in even a fraction of that number, one could certainly find 500 that intensely hate Trump, like in the general population. That number means little about the actual support Trump has from the military, which is quite high.

I'll cover more categories later.

Mr. Trump is a charmer. American voters bought a charming tv star and accepted his ineptitude as he rode out and claimed credit for the Obama economic boom. All through his term he shoveled vast sums of wealth into the hands of the already wealthy, including himself, and all with the help of an initially compliant house and still compliant Senate. That the ultra wealthy and corporations plan to cement their one sided control of the nation through control of the Scotus and possibly still, the Senate, is obvious. Trump pretty much nailed down what we, the general population are, "losers, suckers, and pretty much just plain stupid." Part of the problem though is many millions among us are determined to prove just how right he is.

None of the reasons cited will matter much if the election is rigged, and it is.

I believe national polls are only 80% predictive of the next presidential winner. The other 20% comes down to various forms of voter suppression, gerrymandering, the electoral college (which you mentioned), not counting the mail in ballots - at a record high this year, and mostly from Democrats - sabotage of the Postal Service. Trump's commerce department is also ending the decennial census early. I don't believe this is only to control the count during his lame duck administration, though that is part of the reason. He might try to manipulate the distribution of the current congress to favor republican states - where the census count is higher and more accurate, due to having fewer minorities and illegal immigrants - to try and get more republican members in the House. Don't put anything past him, including just running out the clock with the court system, to stay in power.

"CDC: 85% of COVID-19 patients report 'always' or 'often' wearing a mask"

This article also states that 3.9% of those infected never wear a mask. Since very few people never wear a mask this certainly doesn't mean that maskless is better. But, it does mean that your claim that Trump "alone has caused a hundred thousand deaths" is very silly.

There is tax evasion, which is a crime. The New York Times was careful to call it tax "avoidance" which is what we do when we deduct for expenses or depreciation. I don't know why "we" didn't know Trump and all of us engage in tax avoidance. I hope you don't think that is cheating. Even before he was President, Trump, like anyone at that level of wealth, has undergone constant audit. That means that a large number of high level career tax professionals has been combing through his returns making sure he was paying every cent he owed.

I think that Trump was saying that the taxes you legally owe is your "fair share". Do you pay more taxes than you owe? In Trump's view that would be stupid. I think maybe you are so nice that you just might do it.

I agree that there are "1000 cuts", but they are largely those inflicted by a hostile media.

Two men: Don Trump and Joe Rogan. One accepts his virility while the other transplanted his hair to create a work of art that defies gravity and style. Which man is funnier?
