As the old saying and prophecy went in Tibet (remember that country?) when the Iron bird flies in the sky, the Dharma will move to the West.
Well, we've had a flock of iron birds flying our skies for some time and I'm seeing very little Dharma (Buddhist body of teachings) emerge here. Given our pre-emptory wars, dismal ethics in the marketplace, political corruption, and structured, bankster-driven, depressions its no wonder.
Maybe what the ancient seers really meant was that when the Iron Drones fly in the sky (and kill and main many innocent people from a great distance) THEN only will the Dharma necessarily move to the West and one would hope, take up residence in the Pentagon. Looking at those remote-controlled lethal cigar tubes with wings (unleashed and targeted by stateside army video game jockies) they do look more like big birds... an easy error for an ancient seer to mistake a drone for an airliner.
In any case, the Dharma better hurry because when our president jokes about unleashing Drones in a retaliatory move against his daughter's potential suitors, you know the issue has been trivialized and the Dharma movement to our shores will be further postponed, if not altogether cancelled. This will be due to the fact the Drones are currently killing innocents, creating jihadists, and killing our Karma in one fell swoop.
Do, we the people, deserve it? Well, how can you control your collective Karma if you don't control your country?
Then again, did the Dharma crash on its way to the West, or just turn around when it got a glimpse of where it was headed?
When one considers that Wall Street has already carpet-bombed Main Street, what then should we do now? Sit still? Simply complain? Write a letter? Plead for mercy?
Or, in that favorite "Washington Consensus" dance, just change a few minor regulations and give the people the appearance of "reform" without getting to the real problems. But is something a little more dramatic needed to allow the Dharma, instead of the Bad Karma, to finally land here? What exactly do we do when we're up against this Potemkin wall of a domestic Truman Show horror movie?
Well, there's always the biblical approach. We can simply turn the other cheek like a good Christian. Then, unless the first blow is fatal, and after you've been hit, we can offer up the other cheek... so we may suffer the full frontal assault. Peaceful and Christian surely, but maybe stupid and likely to lead to more hits. Ego-gratifying but very ineffective. Bullies are not Buddhas.
Remember, however, that two cheeks is all they get. After, that you've done your Christian duty and you can then proceed beat the sh*t out of someone who has attacked you.... twice..
Alternatively, we might also consider that maybe the Dharma did land... in other countries of the West and purposely skipped over an undeserving America? Instead, we got, and will continue to get, a sh*t load of bad karma until we mend out ways.
Buddha help us, the Iron birds are here already and our Karma's lookin' bad.
