What on Earth Was She Hiding?

One aspect of the email scandal which hasn't gotten any scrutiny is: What was Hillary so scared of coming to light in her emails that she would compromise top secret government documents in order to protect her own?

If we go back to her own original rationale for using a private server rather than a government one, it was to make sure none of her private emails became public.
According to the Inspector General's May 2016 report:

"In November 2010, Secretary Clinton and her Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations discussed the fact that Secretary Clinton's emails to Department employees were not being received," according to the report.

Clinton's Deputy Chief of Staff told her that "we should talk about putting you on state email or releasing your email address to the department so you are not going to spam."

Hillary Clinton replied, "Let's get separate address or device but I don't want any risk of the personal being accessible."

This is what all of the secrecy boiled down to. It was not for convenience: Comey's report revealed that Clinton actually used multiple email devices, directly contradicting her claim that she set up the server so she would only need one device). And it is not conceivable that the head of the State Department was unaware of this basic statute:

18 U.S.C. 1924 -- Unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents or material -- provides, in part:

(a)Whoever, being an officer" of the United States, and by virtue of his office" becomes possessed of documents or materials containing classified information of the United States, knowingly removes such documents or materials without authority and with the intent to retain such documents or materials at an unauthorized location shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both.

(c) In this section, the term "classified information of the United States"means information originated, owned, or possessed by the United States Government concerning the national defense or foreign relations of the United States that has been determined pursuant to law or Executive order to require protection against unauthorized disclosure in the interests of national security.

So, for me the fundamental question is this: What was in those emails that was so essential to Secretary Clinton to never see the light of day; to such an extent that she would rather risk the nation's most classified documents being made public rather than her own?

According to the Washington post, half of all of the emails in question have still been withheld, "It's worth remembering at this point that Clinton and her team deleted more emails than they turned over to the State Department." Hillary Clinton's Email Problems May be Even Worse than They Look

Up until this point the drastic measures Mrs. Clinton took to ensure that her private emails remained private has been our primary focus. But perhaps it's time that the nature of those emails themselves be given their due. John Kerry used a government server while he was Secretary of State and apparently had no issue whatsoever with what might be revealed about his dealings with others, either privately or professionally.

What was Secretary Clinton so terrified of becoming generally known that she would go to such lengths to make sure no one ever found out?
