Post Coup Ukraine President Oleksandr Turchynov
Yesterday, the post coup president of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov-put there and ably assisted by the machinations of the US government- issued an ultimatum to the "separatists"-otherwise known as the ethnic speaking Russians indigenous to eastern Ukraine but culturally connected to Russia who refuse to recognize the coup led government in Kiev and want a referendum similar to what occurred in Crimea last month-must lay down their arms or face a crackdown by military forces saying his "Council of National Security and Defense has decided to carry out a large scale anti-terrorist operation with the use of armed forces of Ukraine".
In light of Turchynov's ultimatum the UN Security Council met in emergency session last night with Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churken warning the government in Kiev "intended to use military force against protesters in the east of the country".
As of this morning Turchynov's 9:00 AM deadline ultimatum to the "separatists" came and went without any government armed forces clashing with protesters occupying government buildings in multiple cities including Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Slavyansk and Yenakiyevo in eastern Ukraine.
Again, getting back to Turchnyov's "ultimatum", the watchword here is his using the words "anti-terrorist" to describe the protesters-the favorite terms of the US government regime describing any people that oppose it or any government it supports including autocratic dictators that repress the people-a label demonizing anyone in opposition and in this instance those opposed to the coup led government in Kiev which has the indelible handprint of the US regime being in coordination with what Turchynov says and does. Read on.
Sunday also had US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power on ABC's "This Week" stoking the flames with pure speculation accusing Russia of instigating the demonstrations, the assault on police stations and takeover of government buildings with "Russian soldiers disguised as local residents" as "the outbreak of violence appears to have been provoked by Moscow". As for proof of the ambassador's accusations of Moscow acting behind the scenes, none was given. It's the mantra of the US regime; we say it therefore its true. As for evidence that needs to be kept secret for reasons of national security.
Yet if there remains any doubt as to the US regime being intimately entwined in the current Ukraine governments affairs and the actions it has been taking, how's this for a smoking gun; CIA Director William Brennan making a secret visit to Kiev on Saturday; this reported by Russian media outlets. The US embassy in Kiev refused to comment.
But with the CIA's Brennan being in Kiev-after all Russia does have its own spies-it's a dead giveaway. Here's the current leader of the "puzzle palace" in Langley known for carrying out coups and assassinations of leaders of legitimately elected governments-Iran in 1953, South Viet Nam in 1961,Chile in 1972 to name just a few- behind the rendition of suspects anywhere in the world, running secret black site prisons, indefinite detention of suspects, torture as well as conducting drone strikes, special ops missions in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia against suspected "terrorists" and he's there in a secret visit to Kiev which the Russian TV outlets report as heralding the governments decision to get tough with the demonstrators and help coordinate the crackdown in eastern Ukraine. Maybe have some of his "boys" infiltrate the protesters, and be the real "provocateurs" along with private mercenary contractors inciting violence in eastern Ukraine and not the "phantom" provocateurs Samantha Power alluded to "This Week".
Yet with the US regime being in the middle of the coup that forced Ukrainian President Yanukovych to flee, supporting the neo-Nazi Right Sector whose ultra-nationalists have been known to take violent action-first in Maiden coup and now threatening Russian speaking Ukrainians and sure to be a part of any crackdown in eastern Ukraine-and with Brennan being in Kiev-certainly not just having Vodka cocktails with his "hosts", it's hard to dismiss the US regimes machinations in Ukraine and the over the top accusations throw at Putin.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has repeatedly denied Russia has any intention of invading Ukraine-much less any NATO Baltic country or Poland-accusing the US and NATO of promoting an atmosphere of unnecessary hysteria.
It seems preposterous the US government would want to provoke a real confrontation with a nuclear armed Russia on its doorstep. But who knows what the great hegemonic bully is really up to beyond threats, demonization, accusations, that old standby sanctions or just some chest thumping puffery.
For now we'll just have to wait and see.
