Trump tweeted that he pulled us back from the precipice of an attack on three locations in Iran, in response to Iran shooting down a drone. Discuss it here.

I'm wondering:

  • Who set the attack in motion in the first place? Bolton? Who else
  • Where were the people who should have told Trump this was crazy?
  • What can congress do to stop this insanity?
  • How can we know whether the drone was in international territory or over Iran. We can't trust Trump or his surrogate liars.
  • Here's Iran's side of the story-- that the drone was shot down over Iran.

Why would anyone believe what Trump says about Iran? The reality is that Trump has always planned to start a war that is going on during the presidential election. I have no doubt that if Trump goes to war against Iran it will cost thousands of lives, including here in the US. And it will cost trillions of dollars. This is one more reason to start impeachment proceedings so investigations can be intensified with stronger subpoena "teeth."

Of course Iran does not have a history of attacking anyone and apparently they are quite capable of defending themselves with or without the help of Russia and China, who, so far, are "keeping their distance" - Trump, Bolton, and Pompeo, may decide "to wait this one out". #UsingLies.

Can you imagine what the reaction would be from the U.S., if Iran had one drone or military plane exploring any area half as close to U.S. borders as Iran has been experiencing?

The Americans would, of course, demonstrate their "exceptional" right to defend their own borders, without question from anyone, by not only shooting down the "invaders", but launching an all-out assault on Iran.

And, when you have, what?, 45 or so bases surrounding another country's borders, and you're the U.S., you can claim that your people are being threatened by any action that country takes to properly protect their borders.

Of course, that's a good part of the idea of being "in their faces" like that. Keep poking them until they do something you need to "defend" yourself against.

This obvious campaign to goad Iran into giving the slightest excuse for Trump and his war-hawks to attack is transparent and shocking. It's clear that Bolton is behind the despicable campaign to start a war. It is also clear that he doesn't care if the people are aware of his role. It is also clear that Trump is ignoring the warnings from Congress that he no longer can unilaterally launch military attacks.

This last obvious fact means that Trump is declaring the power to take precipitous belligerent action against Iran at his discretion.

Nancy Pelosi's refusal to start impeachment proceedings in hopes of waiting out the clock for the 2020 election has now become a reckless existential threat to our nation. She MUST be forced to vigorously act NOW to start impeachment proceedings or we may be doomed.

Trump is an increasingly dangerous threat to our survival as a nation. He must be impeached

How many divisions does the Congress have? Same with the Supreme Court, which presidents have ignored in the past because they have no enforcement arm. In the final analysis impeachment is the only way. Besides, Congress may not agree on anything.

I get that part. But, here's what keeps going through my head...

    1) If Congress has the power to stop a war, particularly one which they haven't had a hand in approving, the question would be, why aren't they?

    2) If Congress is divided on this issue, the question, again, would be, why?

    3) Isn't starting a war without the approval of Congress an impeachable act?

    4) Is this desire to impeach Trump really a serious one, given all the other offenses that could have been used as cause for impeachment, but weren't? (That, without even touching on #3.)

From where I sit, it appears there's a number of people in power that simply want to go to war with Iran (and everybody else), regardless of the implications, and this desire for impeachment is only being expressed as a distraction from all else.

We have the Constitution which says only the House can declare war. We have the War Powers Act, enacted after Vietnam, which demands that the President make his case for emergency attacks to Congress in a timely way. What we don't have is a Congress that's willing to play this role and take any political heat, either for starting a war or for stopping one.

But, did this protocol stay intact when the PATRIOT Act and the AUMF came into it? It's bizarre that Congress would give away this kind of power to the Executive.

Yes. BUT...this president has done many things unilaterally that he wants to do. Here's what he is likely to do: tell Bolton and Pompeo to just do it. Then after the attack, when Pelosi starts to act, he will claim that his power of unilateral military strikes was never rescinded. By then it will be too late to stop the conflagration...which will be an unmitigated disaster with very dire consequences for the future. Pelosi will be guilty of failing her sacred duty, and there will be no way to recover.

here is your answer. Attacking Iran Is Congress's Call. " From the U.S.S. Maine in Havana Harbor in 1898 to the U.S.S. Maddox in the Gulf of Tonkin in 1964, maritime incidents, shrouded in the fog of uncertainty, have lured the United States into wars on foreign shoals. Which is why cooler heads must prevail and Congress must be consulted as American and Iranian forces inch closer to open conflictin and around the Strait of Hormuz".... "With opposing military forces in such proximity, with accusations and munitions flying and with the White House facing a trust deficit, the danger of open conflict increases by the day. Which is why, if Mr. Trump and the Warhawk Caucus led by the national security adviser, John Bolton ; the secretary of state, Mike Pompeo ; and Senator Tom Cotton want a wider military conflict with Iran, they first need to persuade Congress and receive its approval.

Yes, Pelosi, once again, has "Articles of Impeachment", "ready to go" - first, it was W Bush (thirty five Articles) and now it's Trump (twenty Articles). For W Bush she decided impeachment is "off the table" and for Trump she has already decided impeachment - "he's just not worth it".

That's two times already Pelosi has apparently "failed to realize" it was/or surely should have been her "primary duty" and "top priority" as our Speaker of the House of the American people to hold a president "accountable" under our laws, signed treaties, and our Constitution - "shall be impeached".

This is the craziest stunt I have ever heard of. Trump thinks he can handle Iran the way he handled North Korea with all talk and no substance.

We have peace with North Korea now, because the US stop being belligerent. Trump then says "look at me I am a great dealmaker". What he proved was that the US is the aggressor and when it stops it aggression, then other side goes back to minding its own business.

Iran is a different story. After Trump broke the JCPOA, why would Iran take the word of the US? They would be crazy to agree to any concessions. They are not doing anything wrong. It is not against international law to build missiles or to have a foreign policy of their own in their own region.

Iran has never had a nuclear bomb program. Our own intelligence agencies, all of them, told Bush in 2007 that Iran had no nuclear weapons program. The IAEA confirmed it in 2009. There has been no evidence that Iran had a nuclear weapons program up until the Obama JCPOA.

The JCPOA was about Iran enriching uranium on its own soil. Again there is nothing against international law for a country to do that for the peaceful use of the atom. That is actually in the non-proliferation treaty, and nuclear weapons countries that are part of the NPT are supposed to help non-nuclear weapons countries with the peaceful use of the atom.

Iran wants enriched uranium for their nuclear power plants, for medical purposes and research. That is exactly what the NPT refers to. It is the US that is in violation of the NPT, because it calls for nuclear weapons countries to work towards the elimination of nuclear weapons. That ain't happening.

Iran has already been in a situation in 2009 where the US-led West tried to use their monopoly on nuclear medicine to prevent Iran from getting the supply they needed.

The US wanted Iran to turn over their enriched uranium to another country, in exchange for a later transfer of highly enriched uranium for medical purposes. Righly, Iran did not trust that the US-led West would honor such a deal, and that would leave thousands of Iranian cancer patience at the mercy of the US-led West.

Iran knows it cannot trust the US. They hesitantly tried with the JCPOA. The US proved it is a liar, and untrustworthy partner. Who can do business with anybody like that?

Now Trump thinks he can get Iran to meet with him at the point of a gun? They will never do that. If Trump wants diplomacy with Iran, then the US has to at least go back to honoring the JCPOA first.

Trump is all show. He wants a meeting with Iran. He thinks he can then make a show out of it. Then pull a "North Korea" and take credit for being the deal maker. It ain't going to work.

David, David... , you nailed it, but he has exhibited forever, a mobster mentality.

You do not have to be a playwright (as I am) to recognize from his behavior who he is. Never in history has a president been observed, day-in day-out, tweeting his way through his days, saying "look at me!' His rages, his cruelty and total self-devotion define a malignant narcissist... a real personality type who admires liars and rogue lawyers who can twist laws for him.

He has utter contempt for laws... any and all laws. He disregards them and walks over anyone who stands in his way.

His love of Roy Cohn tells you exactly who he is... a mobster. I see him as the mobster who is holding a gun to a head, explaining, that he will put a bullet through your brain if you do not..."

SOOO, I think that.... He shook a fist at Iran, and said: "You're playing with fire!Look what I can do, with a snap of my fingers !"

"I could have done this, but I didn't... do you get it?"

"I will do it, next time."

I can see, his daughter saying to him, "Daddy. Do you want to go down as the President who started a terrible war over a downed robot?"

Jared, might have added,"and Dad -- it is bad for our business, if Iran and Saudi Arabia nuke it out... radiation lasts for thousand so years... no hotels in a wasteland."

And Don Jr., "You showed them, dad, what you could have done!"

    Eric cannot talk.

It's not fair to call this "Trump's war". Gen Wesley Clark told us this was being planned 20 years ago. It's the neo-con's war and Trump is either going along with it or he's powerless to stop it or maybe he's just tooself-absorbed to care. But war isn't Trump's thing, it's the bankers' thing, it's the CIA's thing, it's Mossad's thing, it's the darling of the MIC.

The lies and invention of an incident to justify our aggression is an old trick. Remember the Maine. Remember the Gulf of Tonkin. Remember the Weapons of Mass Destruction. Even Pearl Harbor was a manufactured crisis for the purpose of dragging the American people into war.

Given that the president is a figurehead only all power resting in the hands of the cia and nsa and bankers, what is the point of elections. If tulsi miraculously won an election they would either kill her or threaten to kill her family. the US is a hopeless rogue nation beyond help.

This was probably just another con job.

Does anyone know if any of this was actually set in motion?

I have a feeling that this was all a charade from the beginning to make trump look both strong and humane. How many things could have gone wrong in calling off an air strike minutes beforehand? Iran shooting down a manned U.S. aircraft before the 'Abort' order was given, etc.

Just my 2 cents. I assume everything trump does is a con until proven otherwise.

Someone correct me if I am wrong on this - the US deal with the Saudis is that the US gets the petrodollar in perpetuity in exchange for an agreement to wipe out every other nation in the Mideast. except of course Israel.

Without the dollar as reserve currency the US would be so bankrupt it would be destitute. along with all of us. At least the US would no longer be able to terrorize the world with the threat of bombs.

To Lila York. The deal between Saudi Arabia and USA was signed in an agreement when Nixon was the President. The deal was/is that USA will protect Saudi Al-Saud family which has over 5,000 prince and princes, in exchange USA will get as much as Saudi's oil and Saudi Arabia will use $$. This is a brief summary of the deal.

Saudi criminals killed their own citizen in Turkey, they have been bombing poor people of Yemen for almost three years using USA/UK arms and bombs. Except for few countries, other countries have not done anything to stop aggression of Saudi's towards other countries. If Saudi Arabia does not stop pushing USA to war with Iran, they will get hit good without Iranians putting foot on their soil.

As a teacher who had many Saudi Arabian students, they cannot defend themselves. Many who work in Saudi Arabia are non-Saudi citizens.

how? Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya. nobody left standing except Iran.

What I mean in that post is that whatever the "official" deal with the Saudis, the reality is and was 'wipe out every nation in the mideast except Israel and you get to keep the dollar as the reserve currency. "

These wars have cost the US trillions, have cost the US its status in the world, its standard of living, its very viability as a nation. Did Exxon get free oil out of these wars? no. The only payback was the continuation of the reserve currency and the billions made by a few greedy men selling bombs and bombers.

Yes, "so very true" - US & Saudis agreed at Bretton Woods that everyone would use the US Dollar for their oil transactions worldwide. Iraq and Libya tried to "buck the system", using "gold" and "euros" and were totally destroyed forever by the US including "regime change" (W Bush/Iraq-Obama/Libya). Iran has apparently dropped the US Petrodollar for their oil sales to China, and Russia and China also are planning to "ditch the dollar" for their upcoming "Silk Roads" conglomerate, which the US war driven neocons "want no part of". The US, carrying 23 trillion dollars of debt owed to the central Fed bankers, may have to "rein in" their "military reach" and switch to issuing debt-free money in the hope of "living in peace" with our worldwide neighbors in the 21st Century or else the entire world is about to face the fatal consequences of "endless wars" that "no nation on earth can win" with that "nuclear option", right there "on the table" (#TheHumanCondition).

Thanks Rob for your time and dedication to raise awareness using this site.

I agree that these things started much before Mr. Trump. It goes back to over 100 years. For UK is several 100 years to deplete natural resources of many countries.

UK and Russia have caused more problems for many countries. USA is a new comer which is causing problems by placing illegal sanctions and letting countries such as Saudi Arabia kill its own citizens, drop USA's bombs on helpless countries such as Yemen.

Iraq, Libya, Yemen, and the longest war in recent history, Afghanistan. Many people have been killed and/or injured to benefit lobbyist and Zionist groups.

Iranian people are suffering now because of illegal Western sanctions. Russia, China, India, and Turkey are taking advantage of Iran in these difficult times.

Criminals in West Asia are causing mayhem some of whom supported by the UK/USA.

The UN members are hopeless. I mentioned this to a Swedish parliamentarian based on their vote records at the UN. He told me he would report my message to his colleagues.

The rule of force has replaced the rule of law. This will hurt both strong and weak nations. No one will be immune.

If Iran is attacked, expect recessions in many countries. Oil prices can easily pass over 200 dollars. UAE, Bahrain, Saudia Arabia will take many years to rebuild. They are at reach of Iran without using any personnel. They do not realize this by pushing USA to attack Iran.

Let us remember that Iranians have survived many attacks including when criminal Saddam Hussein was given a green light in 1980 by UK/USA. Many countries made money by selling arms and pison gas to Iraq. Arab countries of Persian Gulf provided the funds according to Kuwait MPs because they were afraid of Saddam Hussein.

Western countries and Russia have made Iran and Iranians suffer for over 100 years. Iranians are not afraid of attacks, many countries have attacked them.

Iranians wish no war and would like illegal Western sanctions to be lifted so that they can travel easily and live a normal life.

    Cheers to all.

Has Pepe Escobar's piece been posted yet?

More confirmation of false flag attack"

"As much as 30% of the world's oil supply transits the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. Wily Persian Gulf traders who know better are virtually unanimous; if Tehran was really responsible for the Gulf of Oman tanker incident, oil prices would be going through the roof by now. They aren't."

Nobody with knowledge of the situation believes America's lies.

Iran is not powerless to retaliate.

    Pepe Escobar:

As I previously reported, shutting down the Strait of Hormuz would destroy the American economy by detonating the $1.2 quadrillion derivatives market; and that would collapse the world banking system, crushing the world's $80 trillion GDP and causing an unprecedented depression.

    Iran goes for "maximum counter-pressure"

As Hezbollah's secretary-general Hasan Nasrallah has been stressing in his speeches, "war on Iran will not remain within that country's borders, rather it will mean that the entire [Middle East] region will be set ablaze. All of the American forces and interests in the region will be wiped out, and with them the conspirators, first among them Israel and the Saudi ruling family."

The incident came close to sparking a war, with a planned retaliatory attack but with Trump's top advisers reportedly split, doubts seemed to set in.

All the "hullabaloo" is about Trump & Iran - everyone missing the fact that Iran, Russia, and China, are neighbors "in good standing" with each other and "substantial" trading partners as well (e.g., China has been purchasing some of their oil from Iran).

Any US or Israeli first strike on Iran ("Go It Alone") will "awaken the neighbors", Russia and China, who may decide then that "was way too close for their own comfort" and they better "stand up and be counted", "for their own good" if they want to survive at all themselves. Then Trump and his advisers will quickly be facing all three angry neighbors - Iran, Russia and China.

The Deep State tried to start another war. Trump didn't bite.

Clue for those who can't figure it out yet. Trump is not Deep State.

    Past hysterics :

Wars that Trump didn't start, but the MSM/Deep State/CIA tried to.

    Syria-(surgical strikes are not war)

    NKorea

    China

    Never materialized

Trump continues to play them by manipulation into outing themselves.

But continue with your Orange Man Bad. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. :/

Trump is in charge. Not Bolton. Not Pompeo.

Libs have been trained to think Trump is stupid.

    He's not, he's brilliant.

Soon people will realize it, but sadly, some never will.

I know a group of traders who are trump fans - they interpret his every move and tweet as ruses from a brilliant strategist, the wise and wily trump,. outsmarting the deep state. - as in 'oh just wait - he is bringing assange here to pardon him' yadada. well... no. every person who knows him well, who has worked for him or written about him for years describes a hopeless narcissist and failed businessman who is little more than a media clown and has mostly lost whatever reasoning power he once possessed. He never wanted this job - he just wanted an audience of adoring fans, and the campaign speeches gave him that. ergo he has spent his entire time in office giving speeches at rallies to keep the adulation coming in. insecure billionaires have a lot in common. I was at a gala at lincoln center and overheard david koch scream, "this is MY THEATER . I OWN this theater. " Actually new york state theater is owned by the people of the city of new york./ koch paid for a renovation so got his name on it. narcissists will go to any length to plaster their names - everywhere. e.g. the golan heights are now "trump heights". that is the level of his intellect. so - no, I do not underestimate him. he is a total loser.

Is Trump playing people like Pompeo and Bolton? Hmm. Interesting concept. Could even be true.

Whether the case, I still believe the House is playing him for the great distraction he is. (Can anybody recall that many of the bills that have been brought out or passed in the last few years? That stuff hasn't been news these days, has it? Hmmmm.)

I really doubt that. I think it is probably the reverse. Why hire the two most dangerous psychotics alive on earth to dictate war policy. Bolton ordered ships to the Mideast and orchestrated the failed coup in Venezuela. incompetent sure, but still with far too much power.

2 1/2 yrs ago, hell, even a year ago I probably would have agreed with you and been cheering you on.

Now, not so much. I've learned the Deep State is beatable, and Trump is making it possible and so far succeeding. I also realized that your kind of thinking is exactly what the DS wants. Play both sides against each other. It's worked very well for them. I've never been afraid to look at what the other side is saying, and I'm not talking about Fox News, which I don't watch, or A.Jones, whom I can't stand. They are controlled as are most media. Right and left.

I've no interest in arguing with someone whose mind is closed and knows it all. And I do apologize if that insults you which is not my intention. Expand your thinking. The truth is out there. And by the way, you're not even entirely close to being wrong. You're just stuck in your own sense of rightness.

    Carry on. I'm done here.

well actually no. that is not the case. I am not "stuck" on anything. but you do not know me, so how could you know that. when obama came into office he wanted to spread "community organizing" and helping the poor across the country. Michelle planted an organic garden as a model for the nation. and then... the cia took over, as they always do and obama's hair turned white. trunp 's only real interest is in money and fame, certainly not war. he had a long and shady history with russian bankers, so no, he had no interest in going to war with russia or maligning Putin. all of that was taken out of his hands lickety split. the cia runs US foreign policy . in total. presidents are figure heads. like the queen. that does not at all change who he is as a person, his failings or meliorate his utter incompetence in the job. He does not read and gets his news from television. many writers who know him have said as much. as of today, he has signed every bill that McConnell has bullied through, cancelling our liberties, destroying every federal agency that did genuine research, protected citizens from lethal pollution, fed poor children, and enriched our lives. Fully half of the nation is living below the poverty line, and the numbers grow each year while his billionaire cronies get richer and more powerful. his regime has tariffs, sanctions and /or threats of bombing, invasion or overthrow against every nation on earth save Saudi Arabia, Israel and Britain. the US really has no other allies. Every action he has taken and his vainglorious tweets have driven the world opinion of the US into the gutter. It is only a matter of time before the entire world unites against the US for good. Pushed to their limits they will sacrifice the benefits of trade to their better angels. so I think it may be you who's "stuck". but I don't know you either, so I cannot really say.

Congratulations. Almost that entire statement came from MSM programming.

The MSM owned by the DS who hates Trump. The MSM who adored Trump pre-2016.

Trump who gave up the good life to expose his family and friends to the venomous hatred of the press? He's only seeking fame and wealth? Are you serious? The only modern president that has had his wealth go down since becoming president? Who donates his salary? He's attacked 24/7 and you are taking unproven allegations as fact. Vicious, nasty things are said about his wife and children, by the media who abandoned all pretense of impartiality before he became president? And that's what he wants? That makes sense to you? Mmm-k.

I think we should all be thankful the US has not so far gotten its coup in Venezuela. If they had and the US now controlled all that oil, they might be more willing to risk Iran shutting down the Straight of Hormuz and driving the price of oil through the roof as a result of a US invasion. The US would have all the oil it needs for a long stretch while still pushing for regime change in Iran.

The US will continue to ratchet up tensions with all the governments in the world that refuse to be vassals of US/NATO Empire, but Wall St. will certainly have a big say in whether a major war will serve the elite's interests or not. It seems for the moment; not.

It is a complex issue. venezuelan oil is heavy, and the Kochs want it cheap because that is the kind of oil they refine. they were behind the excel pipeline scheme. but it would not substitute for light sweet crude and it would not be quick. On the other hand, Brazil discovered a vast deep water oil field inside its waters. That is the oil goldman sachs wants and why Brazil had a coup and now has a dictator at the helm. If the current trend continues, the US will be at war on every continent and with every nation. Even printing up (counterfeiting) another 100 trillion dollars there is no way the US could possibly pay for this. So I would say that we are done for as a nation, and just playing out our last days.

If he's so brilliant, Nan, then why is Trump appointing businessmen to run the EPA and reverse environmental regulations, and worsen the already catastrophic environment problems? He's merely a stooge of the Koch brothers -- and that's right, not deep state -- Pompeo's a Koch stooge, as well. Trump is certainly waiting for the right moment to start a war. Maybe when it looks like his impeachment becomes inevitable. It's his ace in the hole.

why it is more important than ever for congress to take back its war powers and strip them from the white house. as for ms. nan - I quit two private sites where I was a long time contributor because there was no penetrating the blindness. when this is over - if any of us are still alive - they will see clearly that the emperor was naked all along. for now it is pointless to argue. by the way today a woman journalist came out and revealed that Trump raped her in a dressing room at Bergdorf's back in the 80's. she has outcry witnesses. that makes 20 women sexually assaulted by the 'greatest most fabulous president of all time"

I was having a "conversation" with a tRumptard neighbor, who believes the MSN which are supporting tRump on this situation. I told him the Japanese tanker captain contradicts everything the tRump administration is claiming to be truth.

He went home and came back 15 minutes later claiming he watched all the news channels and not one word about the Japanese captain was mentioned. The western MSN apparently has silenced the facts and is running with the Iran attack line.

I asked him why he "believes" these former Reagan War Criminals when for over 40 years they have peddled lies to implement their agenda of Iran-Contra, PNAC 9/11, the farce War of Terror and the illegal incursions, occupations and invasions they have committed over Europe's, Asia's and alternative news sites here in the USA?

This neighbor is a FAX NEWS addict and when I challenge his "facts" with alternative ones he states my information is "Fake" news. So, I remind him of all the false "news" reported by Fox that is later omitted, retracted, or just buried, but does not bother him and all other tRumptards, because what they are hearing is fitting their narrative of events.

Don the Con and his GOP minions have done more to destroy this country in 2 years than the globalist stooge Obama did in 8. tRump may not be a Bilderberg, CFR and other elitist club member, but his entire Cabinet is!

Trump's job - the job of all regimes permitted by the war machine - is to preserve the absolute domination of the elite over the 99% of the people. He is dutifully obeying his orders.

"there's considerable evidence that Bolton and Pompeo are keeping stuff from Trump, that Trump was not advised as to some of the actions that they're doing against Russia, and with this Iranian business as well. I mean, just the whole timing of itJust as Trump is trying to, you know, create a back channel, that's exactly when the anti-Iranian rhetoric is ramped up, that's when sanctions are increased. It doesn't seem coordinated. It's rather that Pompeo and Bolton know that Trump is not hands-on, know that he's not following policy detail closely, know that he's lazy, and are pushing their own agenda and that's very dangerous."

tRump is another Ronald Reagan, both were B-rated actors, multiple adulterers/sexual predators. Both were Democrats before becoming Republicans, knowing their mentally-challenged base would elect them. Both blame others for the country's problems - tRump blames immigrants and Reagan blamed minorities. Though Reagan was in the military, his role was to make patriotic movies stateside while Bone Spurs MacPussy Grabber cited medical reasons.

Both bloated the Pentagon budget while inflating the deficit. Both were/are charlatans about their religious beliefs. Reagan bloviating "God Bless" while swapped wife Nancy used an astrologer to schedule his White House appointments. One look at the photo of tRump at the Bu$h funeral shows his religious spirit.

Both enabled the PRC/CCP, that ow threatens US economic/military interests and Taiwan. Reagan with his misguided domestic/foreign policies; to not follow through on the Carter Energy Policy that now has China leading the world in these modern technologies and firing the union FAA Air Traffic Controllers, that encouraged CEO's to off-shore, out-source American manufacturing to China. tRump's family products are made in China and tariff exempt.

Both were/are bumbling fools who involved the country in senseless wars, useless sanctions and tariffs to further their aimless agendas. Both have admirers that will blindly follow their mythical legends to pull the rest of the country over the abysmal edge with the rest of the world in tow.

More material for nightmares. According to Pepe Escobar, the US deep state - shadow government installed dictator Bolsonaro into power in Brazil to steal the oil field and break up the BRICS consortium - and now plans to exit Bolsonaro and actually take over Brazil as 'american property'. Sometimes I wish I were living in some other era in history. not this one.

"What kind of a peace do I mean? What kind of a peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and build a better life for their children not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women not merely peace in our time but peace for all time...
No government or social system is so evil that its people must be considered as lacking in virtue...
For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal."
