President Donald Trump has, for many years, been a disease, metaphorically, infecting other people with his narcissism, lies, predations, corruption, shameful behavior, and abuse.

He's infected the nation with a plague of narcissism and psychopathy, by setting an example that encourages latent and active narcissists and psychopaths to come out of the closet, to go steps further than they felt safe to do before.

He's taken selfish, greedy people, including powerful billionaires, and infected them with more grandiosity, bigger greed, and he's given them power.

He's encouraged violent, hateful extreme right-wing groups like the Proud Boys to become more visible, more vocal, more aggressive and violent in expressing their hate and intolerance.

But this past week, Trump shifted from metaphor to reality. He organized a Rose Garden ceremony to announce his appointment of Amy Cody Bennett as a Supreme Court Justice. That event, where, based on the example he has set of not distancing or wearing masks, most people did not wear masks or socially distance. The event has been characterized as a superspreader event and many of Trump's inner circle have become actually infected with Covid-19.

Trump's, and his Republican party's rebuke of science has been paid back with karma.

The metaphorical disease has become a real one. Trump has caused the infection of the core of his leadership team and campaign.

Perhaps now people, perhaps even some of his supporters will realize that the pandemic did not have to be this bad, that so many people had to die.
