Barack Obama ran the best organized presidential campaign in American history. He chose to maintain the organization they had built under the "Organizing for America" moniker to advocate for his administration. If any of you ever had anything to do with the Obama campaign then no doubt you have recieved their barrage of emails over the months. I sense that this organization is his pride and joy, and from the perspective of political operations, rightly so. It's too bad he has turned his back on the people who got him where he is.
President Obama implements and carries on the same policies as the Bush administration and appears to ignore the millions of ordinary people who contributed small amounts to his campaign and did the leg work to get him elected. His backing off on the public option in health care reform is just the latest in a series of retractions in the areas of rule of law, forbidding torture, getting out of Iraq, and so many other areas where he has broken his campaign promises.
As he appears to hearken to the will of a small Republican minority and disregard his base, the time has come to return the favor. If any of you were ever on the "Organizing for America" email list and have not yet unsubscribed, now is the time! Mr. Obama has turned his back on us. It is appropriate that we turn our backs on him!
