Senator Dianne Feinstein did a disservice to every American by normalizing the Republican assault on Democracy. She validated the SCOTUS nominee hearing.

Senator Dianne Feinstein should have known better. Unfortunately, she has given the SCOTUS nominee farcical hearing some form of credence with one compliment. She said the following to Senator Lindsey Graham.

"Mr. Chairman," Feinstein said. "I just want to thank you. This has been one of the best set of hearings that I've participated in. And I want to thank you for your fairness. And the opportunity of going back and forth, it leaves one with a lot of hope. Thank you so much for your leadership."

Lindsey Graham provided a terse response, "You're a joy to work with."

I expect to see Dianne Feinstein's statement in Right-Wing ads to make it seem that the Amy Coney Barrett nomination has bipartisan support or that the hearing was democratic and fair. That could not be further from the truth.

Did Feinstein have a lapse where she believed she was operating in what used to be a respectful, cordial Senate? She could be forgiven for that. But in these times, we cannot afford these types of mistakes.

The necessary narrative is clear. This hearing was a farcical exercise in anti-democracy that completely disrespected the intend of our constitution.
