Hey, fight fans.

Here it is!

The one you've been waiting for.

It's going to be the battle of the ages!

Nothing like this has ever occurred in the history of the world.

Yes, folks . . . it's a showdown that will reverberate till the end of time!

No, they'll never stop talking about this head-to-head clash of the greatest titans EVER!

Are you ready to rumble?!!

Have you got your seat belts fastened?

Are you wearing your rubber diapers?

In this corner, coming off two decades of undefeated combat with environmentalists and eco-scientists, teary-eyed tree huggers, Al Gore, and other addled acolytes of Gaia . . .

CLIMATE CHANGE!

And its opponent, veteran of decades of terror struck into the hearts of citizens across the globe, a warrior whose very name evokes visions of untold horror and suffering . . .

NUCLEAR WAR!

Which one will exit the battle triumphant, its opponent curled up in a fetal ball, savaged, humiliated, beaten by the overwhelming power and pitiless cunning of brutal competition?

You know how on the last page of a book it says, 'The End'. Then you put the book down and life pretty much goes on like normal, except either you need to return the book to the library or take it down to a used book store and get a couple bucks for it. Well, this time we really mean it. So pay attention!

Which reminds me of my favorite Biblical passage ...

"We are gas and to gas we'll return."

Explains why we get so much vapor these days from our thought leaders. They're just ahead of the game, producing superheated invisible clouds of empty rhetoric -- i.e. hot air -- when we already have an abundance of entropy.

There's a battle raging for control of the human mind across what passes for the human species. I think this article at least gives us some appreciation of the scope of this confrontation:

The Lizard Brain Has Imposed A No-Fly Zone Over the Cerebral Cortex

Of course, a little self-hypnosis goes a long way. I go into a deep trance by staring at the first joint on the second finger of my right hand. Or is that the joint between the first and second fingers of my right hand? Whatever.

Yes - "an environment in which the horsemen of the apocalypse lurk, restless, waiting, growing stronger with each passing day. The first apocalyptic rider readily visible is that of global warming, part of climate change, itself part of large scale environmental degradation".

John, that is a very good picture of you. But, not sure what it is, something about it is quite unnerving. Interesting title you have for your picture. I am thinking about it but I have not a clue why you titled it "A Man of Two Minds." Would you care to give me a clue? That is, if you are feeling ok and do not have a migraine. If perchance you do have a very bad headache, I am thinking opioids might do the trick. Do they have opioids in the land of the rising sun? Maybe on a street corner late at night?

Anyway, I hope all is well with you. Take care. I feel like saying I hope you get better, but that might be a bit presumptuous.

Dualisms seem to dominate Western thinking. The physical, the metaphysical. Zero and one. Right and wrong. Mind and body. We have two distinct hemispheres to the brain, roughly mirroring "art" and "science". Notice the cleaver in my photo is perpendicular to the natural cerebral hemispheric split. This has given me a leg-up (maybe more appropriately a 'brain-up') on the rest of you binaries. I was being patronizing when I said I was a man of two minds. I'M A MAN OF FOUR MINDS! And I may not stop there. A little more chop-chop and who knows where this will take me. One huge benefit is I never ever feel alone. In fact, there's a party going on in my head now 24/7. Wanna join the fun? Click HERE.

John, I hear you but beg to differ. You are close to getting it but I feel you do not want to totally let go. You are holding back which is what is causing what I perceive to be your alternate spiral.

Let me be clear, you talk of "hemispheres" of the brain and not the true divisions, if you will, that comprise the many unknown dimensions that reside inside our heads. I apolgize for not getting straight to the point. But if you would just give it a moment or two of casual thought you would realize the world is not made of only the obvious metaphysical ones and zeros and bodies and minds -- I will give you credit for the "right and wrong." But, if I have not told you before, it is my fault and not yours, I am sorrry. But you seem to have a penchant for leaving out the most persuasive factors in your meak arguments. What I am getting at is yes, zeros and ones and mind and body certainly are important in almost every sphere. But this is what you need to get through your clevered head. The only things important in life's traveils are east is west, left is right, up is down, and black is white. I left out inside out. But I hope you get the idea.

John, it is late, I am very tired, and I had an embellishing drink. But I wanted to respond. Hope you did not mind... :)

Mind? How could I object to such insights? I need to sort it all out, though. It seems related to self-negating relativisms. Or is that self-reinforcing relativisms. Maybe it's both? Self-reinforcing is self-negating?

Did you know I was railroaded out of my program in philosophy? It was a mob that had lost even the most basic mob courtesy. I think they were paid by the department head. Philosophy students are incapable of holding down a steady job, always desperate, easily bribed, the archetypical academic whores. Anyway, you can get the backstory HERE.

John, I read your "HERE" link but I wish it had been a "THERE" link. But before I get to my point let me say I have seen that painting before. But I guess I had never realized it was you sticking the finger up. Of course I saw the painting a long time before I became familiar with you here at OpEd. I know I have a point to make, but let me figure out what it is before I try to make it. Ok, I came up with something. Your link is to something you wrote titled, "Creativity: Two Existentialists Walk Into A Bar . . ."

You John, are at least one dimension ahead of me in what direction I do not know. The absolute best I have ever done is to repeat a story about only ONE Existentialist. That JUST ONE AND NOT TWO EXISTENTIALIST(s)? A penguin who walked into a bar and asked the bartender a question.

John, I never paid any attention to which finger it was that was stuck up. But now, realizing it is a painting of you, I am pretty sure I know which finger it is. I am not going to say, but thinking about it brings a bird to mind. :)

This ultimate battle to end the human race will be super exciting. I can not wait! But understand, I will not watch the end of the human race live, I will watch the reruns. I hate advertisements and commercials so by watching the replays, I can fast forward past them. That way, I can see the whole thing in less time than those of you who watch it live. But please, I ask you to not be a spoiler by letting me know if it was climate change or if it was nuclear war that brought my life to an end. That would ruin the suspense.

I am putting all my money on nuclear war. Main reason is, the colors and fireworks will be oh so much more spectacular. Win or lose the bet ... won't really matter. I won't be here anymore. Guess I should tip ahead of time.
