CIA Director John Brennan

The gag o meter just registered a bit higher when reading about CIA Director John Brennan "apologizing" to Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein for a few of Brennan's boys secretly hacking Senate computer files relating to a Senate investigation being conducted by Committee staffers looking into the CIA's conduct during the Bush era "harsh interrogation methods"-aka torture.

Remember it was Feinstein-the Senator who sees no evil when it comes to the NSA's clandestine operations intercepting ALL electronic communications in the world, including Americans which is breaking the law and is un-Constitutional-who became apoplectic last March when she first got wind of the CIA hacking into her committee's computer files.

So reading on it becomes farce after farce with Brennan coming clean after repeatedly lying between his teeth that the "Agency" did nothing wrong.

Brennan apparently has created something called an "accountability board" with former Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana chairing it whose responsibility is to review the CIA's inspector general's findings-yeah they too have one of those IG's that one suspects CIA regulars abhor-and recommend "disciplinary action", which if any wrongdoing is found for sure it'll just be a few underlings that get axed, maybe prosecuted, but it won't include those at the top who authorized the hacking-ah Brennan for sure, maybe AG Eric Holder, maybe even the prez himself.

Getting back to Brennan, Feinstein characterized his "apology" and creation of the "accountability board" as "positive first steps". Oh please!

Think about it; this five year Senate inquiry was formed primarily to "investigate" when the CIA tortured suspects-oops, sorry used "enhanced interrogation methods" and whether those "practices" revealed "valuable intelligence". It's ALL utter nonsense.

It's as if the Abu Ghraib videos of detainees being led around with leashes around their necks, dogs growling menacingly at them was never aired-yeah it was military non coms in those videos but it became known the CIA boys were there in the shadows-waterboarding of detainees at Guantanamo never became public, the CIA's "black site" prisons never existed, the "Agencies" previous and current history of conducting coups, assassinating a country's leader and lately being behind the February coup of Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych is all completely unknown.

C'mon; this whole Senate investigation is a farcical. The idea of Brennan openly lying, then recanting, while he remains the director of the puzzle palace over in Langley with an Obama administration spokesman bleating he "is operating in a very difficult environment to ensure the safety of the American public. He is somebody who has a very difficult job, who does that job extraordinary well". With that last wholly unjustified bloviating of Brennan, the gag o meter all but broke with the disingenuousness of it all.

Then how can we forget Obama early on saying he "wanted to look forward as opposed to looking backwards" rather than calling on his Justice Department to investigate the war crimes of the Bush/Cheney administration, particularly ALL its lies justifying the invasion of Iraq.

So the whole Brennan "apology" for lying and Feinstein's indignation in the whole matter is just another familiar beltway distraction, a meaningless dust up, something for the corporate media to air with its usual assortment of "experts" and talking head blowhards to have something to fulminate about, but it's of no consequence.

Nobody is fooled by the circus of clowns populating the halls of Congress but the public has yet to fully comprehend and recognize the sinister nature of its government, preferring to remain in denial of the horrors its government is committing around the world.

That government and its complicit media consorts have thoroughly propagandized the people who apparently still believe it's "the land of the free and the home of the brave"; the "indispensible" country of the entitled and exceptional that can rough shod whenever and wherever it wants.

Only the rest of the world sees through this hokum and recognizes the US as the greatest threat to world peace in the world.

Not so the American public.
