The Five Big GOP Lies

The 5 big lies of the GOP are: 1) Government is bad; 2) Spending during a recession and deficit is wrong; 3) Regulations are bad; 4) Government must balance its budget; and 5) There is much voter fraud in the US.

Lie # 1: Government is bad
Truth: Our government is what got us out of the 1930s depression which could have destroyed our country. Our government is what defeated the murderous fascist regimes of Hitler, Mussolini and Imperial Japan of the 1930s. Our government builds our infrastructure which is necessary for our economy. Our government funds basic and applied scientific and medical research which are vital to our economy and well being.
Big GOP is bad, not government.

Lie # 2: Government spending during a recession and deficit is bad
Truth: When the private sector is no longer spending and creating jobs as is the case now, then government must spend to maintain our economy. Austerity during a recession will make it worse, not better and is just another instance of misinformed political correctness.
The GOP is really attempting to sell our country and people to the rich and powerful.

Lie # 3: Regulations are bad
Truth: The deregulation of the banking industry started by Ronald Reagan and continued by his right-wing progeny (George W Bush) caused the financial meltdown and current recession. It also caused the gap between the rich and poor in our society to grow astronomically which is demoralizing and destabilizing our society.
The GOP is destroying our economic safeguards as well as our morale, and placing us in great jeopardy for another financial meltdown.

Lie # 4: Government must balance its budget
Truth: Government budgets are not at all like your family's budget. Governments print money, raise taxes and produce multiple waves of income and revenue throughout the economy. Your family budget does not do these things. Balancing a budget has no meaning applied to a government.
The GOP is really using this as a smokescreen to give the control of the country away from the people to their rich and powerful supporters.

Lie # 5: There is much voter fraud in the US
Truth: There is virtually no voter fraud in the US. The GOP push to pass photo ID card voter legislation is solely to suppress the voting of the poor, minorities and students who generally vote democratic. It jives with their control of several of the companies that produce the voting machines and their manipulation of voting tallies.
The GOP is attempting to undermine our voting rights and democracy.
