These are a few "compelling examples" of biosphere collapse, from February-March, 2019. The scenes speak all too well for themselves. From all I've read and seen, a lot more than I ever wanted to, we are taking off now on an intertwined, overlapping, exponentially growing biosphere collapse, around the earth. No one has a clue as to what to actually do. As much as I support folks who try, and there are many, growing by the day, I can't help but see this as akin to protesting the rotation or revolution of the earth, the laws of gravity, or trying to develop a time machine. Thinking about how to find meaning in life has become a tall order for many, including myself. I've seen various appellations for the times we are in, but the title here is the one I find, unfortunately, most fitting.

In my run for U.S. Senate against Utah's Orrin Hatch, I posted many progressive ideas and principles that I internalized over the years. I'm leaving that site up indefinitely, since it describes what I believe most members of our species truly (more...)

I'm grappling with the same things. the only "answers" i have are that every time i stop to give time and attention to some wonder of nature, large or small, be happy that it still can snow somewhere or I can see a bumblebee or bat, or ease some sentient being's suffering even a little, or breathe in the joy and grief and swirl of what's happening and not look away, living to the best extent i can - that's all there is to do.

It's hard not to get sucked down deep into existential depression, grief, hopelessness, and anger. i guess i'm in the midst of the 5 stages of grief for planetary dying... only there's no "bargaining" in this EndofScene era.

I wish I could conjure more joy and appreciation for what is still here, what still lives, and be more "positive." I'm trying - mostly for the sake of others, because I've pretty much given up. Hope and denial are both gone. Accepting What Is would be a lot easier if we humans didn't cause it.

Dear b. sadie, I can't add anything to what you wrote. I made my statement on another post.

I can only say you are not alone in what you say and how you feel. As my friend Daniel knows, I'm wrestling with the the decision of whether or not to have open heart surgery in the very near future. At 'only' 72, this would have been a no-brainer 20 years ago. Now the wisdom of 'Choose Life' feels debatable, indeed.

Does anyone remember 'The Life of Riley' with William Bendix?

'What a revolting development this turned out to be!"

Love and respect, Janet

These things tear my heart out. Not so much for myself, age 71, but for the astounding beauty and sources of wonder that we have destroyed, along with the unfathomable mess we're leaving behind. I need not even mention the proximity we are in to nuclear conflagration. Even though I have largely reached acceptance, my inner tears continue to flow.

One thing I often do when watching videos or reading articles -- not just about global heating -- that I think are very good is ask myself, how would ignorant, denying, close-minded, or just uninformed people react. Is the article or video enough to even get them to start questioning?

This video has sooo many extreme and strange happenings in our biosphere in only two months -- and as the person who put the video on youtube said this is a just a "few compelling examples." I have no idea how many other "happenings" there might have been. But because of my experience of trying to get people to see the light, I think to myself that at least most people who are close-minded and blinded by what is right in front of their eyes will only say, "there have always been tornados and floods and lightening storms and dust devils and car accidents on snowy roads and whales ending up in the Brazilian rain forest far away from the coast." Well, maybe not that last one. But maybe(!), that last one would be the one that would get them to question, "How the flying fu#k did that whale get there?!?"
