Let me take you to a day not too distant in the future-November 4, 2008-Election Day. This is a day that the current administration has been awaiting for nearly eight years.

Before you, the incredulous reader, guffaw and claim that George W Bush never planned anything, much less correctly or eight years in advance, take a moment to review the actions that have been taken to abrogated the rights of the American people, and think about their motivation in light of what lies ahead.

First of all, to blame President Bush for all the dumb things he has said and done is like blaming Charley McCarthy for what comes out of his mouth. The Edgar Bergen in this case is none other than Dick Cheney. Make no mistake Dick Cheney has had from day one a design for reshaping America, if not the world, into his vision of what it should be. He justifies his actions with the belief that most Americans don't know what's good for them so he's willing to pick up the slack. A primary example of his foresight was his convening a task force to map out taking control of the Iraqi oil fields--six months before 9-11!

Even though there were numerous warnings of an impending terrorist attack, Cheney & Co. ignored them. Not only did they ignore them, they pooh-poohed them. Were they anticipating such an event that would be the "Pearl Harbor" they described in the PNAC report (Project for a New American Century)?

  Executive Orders Override Everything
A quick review of the Executive Orders that President Bush has signed would frighten ordinary Americans. Most have received no publicity and were enacted silently, if not secretly. Public Law 109-364, (H.R.5122) (2), which was signed by Bush on October 17th, 2006, in a private Oval Office ceremony, allows the President to declare a "public emergency" and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of governors or local authorities, in order to "suppress public disorder."

The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, a law that was championed by Southern legislators who had firsthand experience living under military occupation, expressly forbade the use of federal troops in domestic policing actions. In fact, over the years, the Act's teeth have been continually filed down by congress, and presidential executive orders, and Bush has finally extracted all the remaining teeth. Since it is statutory versus constitutional law, it can be abrogated by Executive Order without appeal.

It has been widely reported that a brigade from the 3rd Infantry Division has been trained in crowd control and assigned to NorthCom, the regular army unit charged to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts. This unit recently returned from Iraq where it honed its tactics in infamous battle of Fallujah.

In addition, Executive Orders have been signed that allow the government to take over virtually all facets of the civilian sector-transportation including air, rail, inland waterways, and highways; communications; power generation and fuel production; and virtually anything you can think of including banking and the flow of money (EOs 10990-98). It is also interesting to note that FEMA, charged with handling national emergencies, has used only 6% of its budget for these purposes. The rest has been spent on constructing underground facilities for a shadow government to operate in case of a major national or international emergency.

In short, all the dominoes have been lined up in neat order and all that is needed is a triggering event to have them fall them harmoniously into place. Now what event could that be?

  November 4, 2008
America holds its most momentous election ever. Having gone in as a 10-point favorite according to some surveys, exit polls forecast Obama as the clear winner. The projected outcome overcomes major obstacles such as thousands of Blacks being challenged and denied their votes at polls in Michigan, Ohio, and Florida. As the media reports the results, a disturbing trend becomes evident. McCain continues to hold a small edge in votes counted.
  November 5, 2008

America wakes up to the incredible news that the McCain/Palin team has won!

As the news travels through the nation, small riots break out in Black neighborhoods. The media quickly reports and sensationalizes this news and soon larger and more concentrated violence spreads across the country. Everyone says this is reminiscent of the aftermath of the King assassination as rioters burn buildings and loot stores. There are also numerous demonstrations by largely white supporters of Obama, and right-wing factions begin large counter-demonstrations.

The president goes on national television to express dismay and calls for calm. He also appoints a commission to look into election irregularities, and claims he's concerned that the will of the people may have been subverted.

Because many are on duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, along with their equipment, the National Guard troops called out by the States do not have enough manpower to control crowds. Governors relay the information to President Bush that they are short-handed in both people and equipment. For the most part the government watches and waits until the situation is completely out of control and there is a hue and cry for federal action. As rioting spreads to the suburbs, Armaggedonites, who've stockpiled weapons in anticipation of just such an emergency, form roving bands and start shooting at Obama demonstrators.

The president goes on national TV and declares martial law. Curfews are imposed and violators are to be shot on sight. NorthCom deploys its troops, complete with their compliment of lethal and non-lethal weapons.

The Retention of Power

Using his emergency powers, the president also declares the recent election null and void. "There has been widespread fraud," he declares and he "is invoking the powers vested in him to bring the situation under control." The federal government also commandeers all the elements of the infrastructure and implements its emergency powers under EO 1100 to conscript civilians into a government labor force. Those who refuse are summarily taken to one of the many prisons that have been set up just , for this purpose.

The president tells America that there is no telling when the situation will be brought under control. It just might take another four years or so.
