Countless scientists and philosophers among others have been pondering this for decades, at least. I certainly have. One of the last articles I saw on this topic not long ago that pointed to yet more statistically impossible "set-points" that have made our universe and ultimately ourselves possible; my recollection is that it was about 64 of them. But no matter, here is some food for thought for those who ponder such things, which I truly wish were much more of us--say for example, the lunatics in the White House, who seem to have other more important things on their minds (if that is not much a stretch of the word "mind"). I especially encourage string theorists to listen up and respond if possible.

In my run for U.S. Senate against Utah's Orrin Hatch, I posted many progressive ideas and principles that I internalized over the years. I'm leaving that site up indefinitely, since it describes what I believe most members of our species truly (more...)

If this was the article I was thinking of, that number is 26, not 64. Still of extreme interest to many of us click here

I recall one scientist saying something like, "Give me one miracle, and I can show you how all the rest works."

Yet even the Big Bang (which wasn't really a bang with no medium for sound waves, and not even light according to space.com: How long after the Big Bang did light appear? Ultimately the composition of the universe at this point was 3 times more hydrogen than helium with just trace amounts of other light elements. This process of particles pairing up is called "Recombination" and it occurred approximately 240,000 to 300,000 years after the Big Bang)...

doesn't seem like enough for the rest of the explanation, at least to me.

I looked up the number fundamental constants; "set-points" as you call them. You are correct, the number is 26.

I came across this video: "Are the Fundamental Constants Changing." Sounded interesting, are they changing? Well, the video of this guy talking was interesting. Interesting from the standpoint that I understood not a thing. The idea of the subject -- Are the Fundamental Constants Changing -- is intriguing. But, just about the entire video was incomprehensible certainly to me who has a basic understanding of science, but a basic understanding of science did me no good in this case.

Watch the video only if you want to blur your mind.

Light bends when passing by a large object such as the sun, long known and studied as per Albert. This bright young dude is talking about better ways of analyzing it, I do believe. The details are costly but I think that is the concept. Look up gravitational lensing, probably on Wikepedia. čś│

Imagine for a moment that the rise of life on this world until today us temporal. That's 4.5 billion years to date.

Now imagine January 2019 until today. Imagine a miscalculation by Iran that the US has launched a missile. Perhaps the Russians are providing intel about the characteristics of US missiles in the Gulf to avoid confusing nuclear with conventional. Imagine your favorite music, photo, movies, the night milky way sky.

Imagine the baked in consequences of climate change.

As Riddick in the chronicles of Riddick says, "It all had to end sometime."

Wow. Of course this something a jerk might say.

Yet you and David have pointed to an infinitesimal beauty of stupendous grandeur and wonders unseen, perhaps with no benefit to our reality because we are on the brink of allowing sorry ass evil motherfuckers to have the power to decide what is the most important for their ilk, irrespective of the planet, its beings and its biosphere.

If it were all to end in a flash or if our own life were to end, how would we be aware of it?

In the face of such evil, perhaps in addition to resisting as the frail tortured Assange exhorts, we also learn to will ourselves to death if need be and begin the process of throwing the evil ones off our spaceship. They are too evil to be allowed to travel to the stars with the rest of this world.

This is our infinity, right now.

Well said and I know.

Back in the early seventies (and pretty much forever in my adult years), I hearken back to Bucky Fuller's "Spaceship Earth." Even in the late sixties it was clear to me that we had lunatics ripping out the life support systems of our one and only truly miraculous spaceship.

This led to extreme rage and the desire to do things best not put to print. At almost 73, I've mellowed a bit, but the rage can easily kick in.

As Saul Alinsky might have put it, "They got the guns." Now what they need is a few functional brain cells, two drops of empathy, and a desire to actually act like part of the human race, not to mention sentient beings on the spaceship.

Peace, bro!
