I could be mistaken, but I believe it is unheard of for mid-level (or any level) officials in the Department of State to launch a public protest of their govenrment's policies. I think I heard the number 58 on RT this morning, who are clamoring for the US to bomb Assad's forces in Syria.

Ray McGovern thinks they're doing it to position themselves for a Clinton presidency. In any case, it's ironic, to say the least, that civil servants should be heard when voters are not. When I served briefly in the Carter State Department, this never would have happened.
