Thomas Sowell, you've finally thrown off all doubt and officially joined the far right fringe. Welcome to the revolution and the salvation of your very soul.
The President of the United States negotiates a reasonable plan with a foreign oil corporation, including an escrow fund of $20 billion dollars, to quickly compensate victims of the Gulf disaster caused by corporate and political negligence and you immediately label the man Hitler.
For this most patriotic effort slandering the President of the United States, you were immediately anointed by the ever sanctimonious Saint Sarah via Twitter. Praise Jesus. I can understand why Sister Palin was so impressed, as your comparison of President Obama to Hitler was a bit more un-American and a tad more daring than her own more recent divisive rants. Way to go Thomas, you've gone from Doubting Thomas to Darling Thomas. Your safe haven in Alaska during the time of Rapture, an end of times wished for by Sarah Palin within her own lifetime, is now secure. You must feel proud your inflammatory troll against our president is now being used by Palin and the GOP to stir the militant base of the Republican party, as Newt likes to refer to them, even though many Jewish people found your words and Sarah Palin's encouragement to her followers to read your words both highly offensive and most "odious" to boot:
"Using Nazi comparisons to advance a political agenda totally diminishes the legacy of the Holocaust, its victims, and survivors, and the millions who gave their lives to end Hitler's tyranny."
"In the column, Sowell argues that it is unconstitutional for the President to hold BP responsible for the clean-up of the massive oil spill along the Gulf. He cites the German Reichstag's passing of a law "for the relief of the German people" to make this comparison and goes on to say, "that law gave Hitler dictatorial powers that were used for things going far beyond the relief of the German people -- indeed, powers that ultimately brought a rain of destruction down on the German people and on others."
"The allegation that the Administration's policies could morph into policies of the Nazi regime is deeply offensive, dangerously inaccurate and downright odious," Harris added"
Your use of Hitler to smear the President of the United States is just as "odious" as is Sarah Palin's mention of your article shortly after her own bashing of Helen Thomas for supposedly trivializing the Holocaust. This is not the first time Palin has used visions of the Holocaust and death squads to scare voters and it won't be her last. I do, however, hope that this is the last time you add to the current level of ignorant fear already generated by the GOP in their attempt to return to full power. Imagine that, someone using fear, no matter how stupid, to control their voting base. Sounds like something Hitler would do, doesn't it? Imagine calling the President of the United States Hitler in order to play to the far right, but failing to mention how Hitler used patriotism and old German religious beliefs to rally his own religious base to his side and to explain the need for his Holocaust.
