Just when I thought it was safe to watch the mainstream media, I turned on the CBS evening news with Scott Pelley and found out that the Russians had conquered Ukraine. Click tick this I was amazed, nobody told me. wWhy I was I left out of the loop? When did this happen?
I knew that the United States was instrumental in helping overthrow the elected government in Ukraine when Victoria Nuland, the under Secretary of State for Eastern Europe, gave the rebels $5 billion worth of cash and I helped install the right wing fascist government that banned the Russian language in the country. I knew that the Eastern provinces that were Russian-speaking broke away from the Ukraine and I also knew the Russians had 20,000 troops in Sevastopol that was agreed to by both Ukrainian government and the Russian government by treaty, and that the Crimea had voted in a referendum to rejoin Russia because of the instability in the Ukraine, but I didn't know that the Russians invaded Ukraine and conquered them!
I can see that not watching the mainstream media for almost a year now has left me out in the cold. I know that the network of Walter Cronkite would never lie to its viewers. After all, CBS is a trusted name that everyone knows would never lie, especially about such a dire situation as Russia conquering Ukraine. That kind of talk could start an international incident!
It is probably my fault because I haven't been watching the mainstream media, I have been watching shows like Democracy Now and other left-wing media more than likely lead me astray. I should watch the mainstream media more often so I won't be ignorant about such issues as Russia conquering Ukraine.
