I look at the sea . . .
watching it rise (in my mind's
wide eye) steadily.
I double-dog-dare
us to go there together.
It is the best way.
I travel in dreams
to a safe spot to fathom
all of this and more.
I just watched a film
to try to clear my brain -- "I
am mother": A droid
is raising human
embryos after humans
destroyed themselves. Its
first child is a girl
who we watch grow up into
a bright young woman.
Eventually
she replaces the droid who
cannot offer love.
Hence the title, "I
am mother". This could be the
future if we don't
get better at be-
ing people. There is still time
but it is not just
the seas rising . . . it
is the surging tide of our
unloving choices . . .
