It will not be long before Trump is out of the White House and off the 2020 presidential ballot.

In spite of what virtually all the mainstream media have been saying about impeachment going nowhere in the Senate, I am very confident that Trump will not be president and will not be on the ballot for the 2020 presidential election.

Here's why. At least five polls have shown a fast, big shift in support by the public towards supporting both an impeachment investigation and full impeachment.

Worse, all the polls are showing Trump will lose the Whitehouse. The GOP does its own polling and I am sure it is seeing that not only Trump will lose, but if he is at the top of the ballot he will take down a huge percentage of the down ballot candidates on the ticket-- US Senators and Congresspeople, state legislators, governors, even school board members and judges. If Trump stays at the top of the ticket, it will energize a massive swell of anti-Trump voters.

But I don't think this necessarily means Trump will be impeached.

The GOP's polling will show that keeping Trump on the ballot will lead to the GOP losing the White House, losing further ground in the House and it will also lose the Senate. The internal polls the GOP runs will show this. They will have to take action. It could happen very quickly. Already, former AZ Senator Jeff Flake has said that if GOP Senators could vote anonymously, 35 of them would vote to impeach. Already some of the big talking heads on Fox News are saying that what Trump did was impeachable. This morning Lindsay Graham called Trump a liar for claiming that all of Isis had been removed from Syria. Several Republican Senators and House members have already come out with concerns about Trump's actions. These are tremors in what will become an eight on the Richter scale earthquake.

This will not take long. When Nixon and Clinton were facing similar situations, they put together robust defense teams. Trump has recruited his son-in-law. That's laughable. Tweeting insults and attacks on his investigators is not a viable defense strategy.

The Republicans are going to have to give Trump an ultimatum: resign and you will be pardoned by Mike Pence or, we already have the votes and we will have to impeach you and you will face charges.

Trump will cave and resign. Most likely Mitch McConnell will deliver the ultimatum to Trump and probably stand by Trump's side as Trump tells some lie about why he is resigning, after making the US the best it has ever been.

Mike Pence will become president and probably put his name up as a candidate for the 2020 election. It won't take long for Cruz and Rubio to get in the running. The domain Cruz2020.com has already been registered with ownership information redacted. My guess is former governor and UN ambassador Niki Haley will win the primary. That will massively change the polling. And whoever the GOP chooses it will wipe out Joe Biden's main campaign claim.

The best thing possible for Democratic party election hopes, for all levels on the ballot would be for Trump to stay in office and stay on the ballot. But I think events are rapidly emerging that will make that less and less likely.

I've written before how, with chaos theory, emergence of new trends can happen very quickly, so a 50% plus one majority is not necessary. (Fractal Revolution: A Systems, Non-Linear View of Change)

The ultimatum from the GOP to Trump could come before December and almost certainly before the Iowa primaries on February 3rd. The GOP will want to give its candidates time to get their campaigns running. I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing at least one or two Fox News talking heads testing the waters, calling for the GOP to do the necessary, maybe Andrew Napolitano or Shep Smith.

But will taking out Trump be enough? He's rebuilt the swamp in Washington D.C.. Will Pence face the reality that there is massive enmity towards not only Trump, but his appointees, and replace them? If he doesn't, the GOP's removal of Trump will be less effective in ameliorating the damage Trump has done to GOP 2020 election prospects

I've said Nikki Haley will be the GOP candidate in 2020 and will be a formidable foe as she is a media darling. In reality, this could be worse than Trump or Pence for our nation if not the World.

Nikki Haley knows very little about international or foreign affairs and she showed her biases in foreign policy. She will be worse than Mr. Trump. Goodness.

True, but means little to the Power Brokers who tell the President what needs to be done. She would, IMHO, be a true sore mark on us if she would become the 1st Female President. I'm just saying the media will continue to portray her as a "darling" and those who have stopped using critical thinking will buy the media's sell.

And she has a lot of plans that change with her views on things like healthcare. What is her plan today in Iran? What is her plan for Venezuela? How does it differ from Trump's? Does she have a plan for Afghanistan?

I understand her plan for Wall Street differs depending on the group she is talking to, as are her plans for what to do with private prisons and private schools.

I guess we have a Bi-Polar candidate and we can only guess the plan she decides on will not benefit the average citizen. In the end, it will not be a surprise.

Nonlinear chaos theory pretty well dictates your specific predictions will mostly be wrong, with high probability. But let's hope at least the part about the upcoming GOP avalanche against Trump comes true. Defending the indefensible must have a limit. It's mind boggling how far it's gone, though.

But whoever does end up on the GOP ticket will change the Democratic campaign calculus bigly. What about Bill Weld, do you think he has a shot?

I don't know...I think he channels his inner Fuhrer with, 'What would Hitler do?' Hitler probably wouldn't have resigned and neither will he.

I still think it will go to the Senate with clear and overwhelming evidence against trump and the republicans will all dress like women, push little kids out of the way, and jump into the lifeboats of the USS (Unbelievably Stupid Ship) Trumptanic and vote to convict.

The bottom line is this, he MUST be gone by Jan 21, 2021 or this country is finished.

Just saw this article and it explains exactly what I was trying to say.

Why can't Trump admit mistakes? It's an old strategy explained by Hitler

To keep the flock obedient, the leader and the party must always appear to be absolutely correct. The party's pronouncements must be "unshakable," "dogmatic," "creedlike," and always seem like a "granite principle."

I think this country is finished either way. Trump is not going away quietly, and neither are his cult followers. Bernie Sanders is unelectable with his health issues (not that the DNC would allow him to be the nominee anyway) and with the exception of Tulsi Gabbard, all the other candidates are neoliberal establishment hacks. Warren has a good chance of being the nominee, but she'll be Hillary II and we know how that turned out last time. Like Obama, she talks a good talk but will not deliver on any of her progressive talking points, which she mostly stole from Bernie. Look at her past and see who her donors are and you'll know who she'd be working for (hint: it ain't us). I think our country will devolve into civil war regardless who "wins" the 2020 election (which will be rigged like all the other recent elections). JMHO.

It might be useful to remember what the polls said right before the 2016 election. They said Hillary had a huge lead and there was no way Trump was going to be elected. Even Trump believed them. Polls these days are so rigged to elicit a desired response, I find them hard to trust.

The whole imperial sh*t show is crashing down around us as the 1% looters steal everything they can get their filthy mitts on leaving the 99% to deal with the aftermath. I don't think it's going to matter much if Trump gets impeached or resigns before the implosion of the system or not. I only wish people would stop listening to the official pundits and liars in the media and start building the replacement system now because we're going to need some kind of structure in place to begin reorganizing society once the criminal class has fled.

Yes, the Republicans won't need Pelosi's help at all to 'remove Trump' from office - so far, the Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has 'refused to impeach' the two Republican presidents thereby dumping W Bush's endless wars and endless debt on the American people and leaving W Bush's record and life free of the 'stain' of 'impeachment' (e.g., Article II Iraq War - "Fraudulent Justification").

Even Obama was highly impeachable, his Nobel Prize a joke as he illegally drone-bombed 8 countries while in office. And Hillary Clinton as well, for orchestrating the overthrow of Libya and assassination of Gaddafi, among many other high crimes and misdemeanors as SOS under Obama. Both parties are rotten to the core, as is our entire government.

Yes, your 'Both parties are rotten to the core', especially after the incoming Democrat House Speaker Pelosi 'refused to impeach' W Bush - then everything started to slide without 'looking back' at W Bush's two terms in office. Obama - first thing, not even sworn in yet, the President elect Obama practically blurts that W Bush and Cheney are going to be be above the laws and treaties on his watch by saying he will have 'a need to look forward'for his two terms. The official explanation of the events on and surrounding 9/11 has not been established in a court of law or by an objective and thorough investigation by either Congress or the 9/11 Commission. #GrandJuryPetition.

In any event, the best possible outcome for Democrats would be for the GOP to cling to Trump to the bitter end, and vote to acquit, followed by the mother of all blue waves to sweep them all out of office. Trump would probably be running against Pocahontas, as even the most die hard progressives would hesitate to chose someone who just had a heart attack on the campaign trail, and Biden has been seriously slimed by the Hunter thing regardless of how much merit anyone thinks the case against him has. That's all speaking on 10/7/2019. Everything is in play and, per chaos theory, a butterfly flapping its wings in Paris could change everything.

It has been discussed before that Mr. Trump will not go away easy. He is a deal maker and master of business dealings. He has money.

Interest groups control USA and its foreign policy. People should be afraid of lobby groups, not who is in power.

If the true left had been playing the double game all along, support Trump here, smash him over there, bring the so call right along, by now they'd be able to hold him up on the ropes and pummel his big fat head and the rest of the repugnants right on into retirement and perhaps later into the Hague.

Now we have idiotic war mongering democrats whom we've allowed to hang around now in the position of having to figure out how to slow down the process so that the down ticket is smeared.

Oh well, could have been a plan two years ago. An invaluable waste of time...oh look, russiagate squirrel.

I respectfully disagree that Trump will resign on his own. He never wanted or expected to have the job of president in the first place. Running for president was all about his YUGE ego, then he had to save face and stick it out when he actually won. Trump would view resignation as a failure, which is not in his wheelhouse to admit. If Trump goes, it won't be willingly, and it won't be without going down in flames with a spectacular meltdown, such as setting off a few nukes on his way out.

The ruling elites control just about everything. I do not believe they would leave something as important as nuclear destruction in the the hands of someone besides themselves.

The POTUS, especially the Trump cannot push the nuke button without a lot of clearance.

But...but... he will go down and take anyone and everyone with him. Maybe Ivanka will sit on his lap, and says, "Daddy, if you don't go, we will be next... you must leave now." He won't hear her. Only the voice in the head of a narcissist is heard.

Interesting piece and I of course hope you're right. But you don't seem to take into account one small matter: the Republican Party. While the the polls on impeachment may be picking up steam with Democrats and Independents, the rank and file Republicans still support Trump. And they are the reasons those 35 Senators still choose to remain silent. They don't need Democrats and Independents to win their primaries, and generally not their elections.

The country is being held hostage by the Republican rank and file. And as long as that's the case, their representatives have no choice but to stay the course.

I think they will see polls where they will lose house and senate seats, as well as the White House. That's the only reason they'll act-- to save the future of the Republican party.

We are always on the same page, which is the one of observable reality... the GOP is going to lose massively as the nation begins to realize the suffering he has caused our farmers and our workers. Moreover, the world is watching this evil clown wreck our alliances, and the GOP leaders see this...even that critter Mitch is getting the message!

Mitch indeed is a critter. Of course the slithering Trump doesn't care about the farmers, the little ones...I wonder if the little ones know that he does not give hoot a about them? Will they show up after Sunday with their bibles in hand to vote for him again? Of course Big Ag knows he cares. He obliged their concerns by shifting some fluffy fiat in their direction as compensation for his Ag tariff spat losses.

But what of US alliances? You know the ones - where it is the US' leading the western liberal democracies in a do as I say not as I do dictat against the rest of the world and while we are at it, we demand access to your resources and human capital and let us help promote democracy by setting up a military base in or near your country. I think we can do without such alliances.

Yes, indeed, Pelosi's official 'condemnation' of Trump's 'racial tweets' by the full House 'vote', her 'unrelenting' Trump 'investigations', her 'impeachment inquiry', and Trump's 'refusal to cooperate' with her and her continuous 'bold-face accusations' against Trump (e.g. he's involved in 'a cover-up') have surely awakened 'the other side of the aisle' from their 'Party Before Country' stupor. The Republicans probably never expected that a Trump 'presidency' (e.g., 'in his arrogance and narcissism, Trump been abusing his power as the nation's chief executive officer for personal gain') would actually get 'deeply embroiled' in an 'all out mud fest' with the Democrat Majority House Speaker Pelosi (e.g., 'Trump accuses Pelosi of Treason').

I think the polls that Mitch & Co. take the most seriously are the ones showing 80% of Republicans "like everything he says and does." So, their Republican representatives would be saving Republicans from themselves?

I think not. As they now say: Donald Trump is the Republican Party.

Yes, the mind reels. But in the end (as I think I said in "Thank You, Mr. Trump") Trump may have succeeded in doing what no Democrat or Independent has been able to accomplish, i.e permanently marginalizing the GOP. That is, if the Republic itself can survive long enough to enjoy the fruits of his kindness...

One other thing worth considering is Mitch's own precarious situation vis a vis reelection next November. His approval ratings in his own hometown of Kentucky are in the low 30s, while Trump's is 61-35%. And that's taking into account there are still more registered Democrats in Kentucky than Republicans. So Trump's approval among Republicans must be sky-high there.

Do you really think that he'd be so selfless as to risk completely blowing his own reelection in order to lead a march to remove a President from office who is twice as popular than he is there?

What a class act he must be...

Maybe the Republicans don't care whether Trump is popular because they figure they can steal the 2020 election as well as they stole 2016. Of course, they're counting on the Democrats to sideline the most popular (populist) candidates and nominate a yawn.

If the Dems nominate Biden, I don't see any barrier to Trump's re-election.

I agree with most of Rob's assessment. But I like everything Trump says and does. My dream is he wins the 2020 and unleashes a fervor for balancing the budget with spending cuts.

We could stand to eliminate 1/2 of the welfare state, trim deference and start to restore States Rights. Only a maverick that doesn't mind being hated could start the ball rolling with inertia. But I'm a realist and more likely we will continue down hill on the Socialist path with current demographics egging it on.

By "welfare state," I assume you mean eliminating tax cuts for billionaires and corporations, and slashing the $1 TRILLION military budget. Corporations are far bigger welfare queens than the poor.

Ya know, Lee, I listen to flat-earthers offer their versions of the undeniable realities that we see in front of us, and I am astonished when smart people deny the effects of climate change... but because I respect your intelligence, I cannot understand that you have such a dream -- makes me wonder where you get your information.

Anyway, after such a statement, I can no longer read your commentary, not because I hold a different opinion, but because it is clear, by such comments that you are uninformed about what is happening!

If you think a little bit Lee, instead of just reading from the

Republican manual, you will realize we already have socialism.

Are you willing to give up your Social Security check? That's based

on socialism. Are you willing to give up your health insurance? That

is also based on socialism. So you see ,it doesn't have to be one way

or the other. In some cases socialism is good, in other cases it is not.

Why should we care that the owners of the duopoly are having a scuffle with themselves? They have us effectively unorganized so that we are conditioned to participate in discussion and marvel concerning distraction squirrels. It is as though we are addicted to a masochistic amnesia. We cannot bring ourselves to support ourselves to save our own lives. The longer we remain Balkanized, the easier it will be for the lying, thieving, murderous distasteful mofos to hang us separately.

Reply to Shad Williams: As a professional astrologer, I hold with Yogi Berra who said:"It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future." I think Shad has it right. The owners of the duopoly are laughing and purring. The deep state plays good cop/bad cop and we all go chasing our shadows, looking for someone to blame.

In my story, it's the owners of Capital we must identify and remove from their throne. They are masters of deceit and illusion so we can't see the wizard behind the curtain. Start with nationalizing the Fed (which probably got the Kennedy's killed) and revocable licenses for corporations. California just adopted a State Public Banking policy, a definite step in the right direction. Any and all other suggestions welcomed.
