Bush's FDA's regulations on alternative health include making natural substances unavailable, using Orwell to help them out, though people increasingly want to choose natural substances for illnesses rather than drugs which a Florida study has shown are killing 3 times more Americans than street drugs by

"Whammy Number 1: Under proposed FDA/Codex rules you cannot tell anyone about what nutrients and supplement can do for them because they are, say the bureaucrats, not "supported" in the scientific literature (despite the science called "Biochemistry" and millions of peer-reviewed journal articles)

Whammy Number 2: You won't be able to get supplements if what they can do for you has ever been documented in the scientific literature, as part of any medical study."

Now, let us look at what the FDA is doing for farming.

FDA's "guidance" on good agricultural practices (GAPs) can be found in the

FDA Guide to Minimize Microbial Hazards for Fresh Fruit and Vegetables

where the key sources of contamination in seed production include:

  .    Agricultural water sources

.    Use of manure as fertilizer

.    Harvesting, transportation, and seed-cleaning equipment

  .    Seed storage facilities

  .

Let's look carefully and remember as you do, that Monsanto is involved

1.  Agricultural water sources.

What?  Will farmers not be allowed to collect and use water from their own land?  Are they going to be expected to purchase water now?  Monsanto is in the process of privatizing water, by the way.

2.  Use of manure as fertilizer.

Forgive me, but what in blazes does this mean for organic farming which is DEPENDENT on manure?  And should we bother to notice that chemical fertilizer is not listed a source of contamination and that Monsanto makes it?  The fact that it can kill outright doesn't count because Monsanto produces it?

3.  Harvesting, transportation, and seed-cleaning equipment

Uh ... wait, wait, wait ... how does one farm once you subtract harvesting, transporting and seed-cleaning?

4.  Seed storage facilities

Do they mean the farm buildings where seeds have always been saved?  This filthy, disgusting, contaminated, putrid method of storing seeds must explain the great seed illnesses we have been plagued with.

Where are the red flags on these regulations?

Let us be clear.  We are looking at the criminalization of ALL parts of farming.

A farmer in Wisconsin who grows flax, said that next year it will be illegal to use his seed cleaning equipment and to bring the flax to market.  Should I mention that organic flax or flax oil is used as a preventative and also as a natural treatment for cancer?

http://www.healthrecipes.com/flax.htm

Dare I say Monsanto is responsible for the seed portion of this, if not the rest?

The reformFDA.org people spotted the FDA regulations being pushed through right now that would make illegal the transport across of state lines of "any supplement that had ever had a single scientific study done on it."  They called it the Orwellian thing it is and are pouring energy into fighting it because the regulations would destroy natural health care.

But we are looking at something considerably bigger here and no one has caught it.

Sustainable, local, organic agriculture?

Sure, go right ahead and try.   See how far you get without seed cleaning equipment, seed storage, manure,  water, harvesting equipment, transport.

We are looking at FDA regulations, all under the aegis of food safety, that will criminalize all necessary elements of normal farming.

They will, piece by piece, farmer by farmer, end NON-corporate farming in this country.

It is already not easy to farm these days.

Steve Hixon, a seed cleaner in Illinois, had his office and truck broken into a little while before Monsanto's "agents" (described as having no necks and arriving in threes) somehow had no trouble finding all his remotely located customers.  In Indiana, did Moe Parr,

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/04/26/eveningnews/main4048288.shtml

and in Missouri, with a coop there,

http://www.grain.org/bio-ipr/?id=548

were their places broken into before when Monsanto went after them?

These guys were accused of cleaning GMO seeds and Monsanto saying it has to protect its investment.

Wonder who broke into an organic seed collector's office and went through his record books in Oklahoma, same thing that happened to Hixon?  How many more people is this happening to across the country?

Then there are the USDA raids to put up with and worry when the next will come.

Mark Nolt has been raided three times now.

http://www.counterpunch.org/cohen04262008.html

Mark MacAfee's in California is going through raids and even criminal charges.

Meadowsweet Dairy faces New York State's Catch 22:

"Under state law anyone selling, offering for sale or "making available raw milk to consumers" must have a permit. The definition of "consumer" the judge used in his decision was so broad that even someone with only a family cow would be required to get a permit. In addition to holding that the Smiths were required to obtain a raw milk permit, the judge ruled that they were required to have a milk plant permit as well. Under New York law, those holding a dairy plant permit can only sell or otherwise distribute pasteurized milk products."

http://www.ftcldf.org/FTCLDF2008REVIEW.htm

And an Ohio organic coop had a whole SWAT team come after a mother and children.

http://agrariangrrl.blogspot.com/2008/12/manna-co-op-case-taken-up-by-buckeye.html

You think that corporations that have gotten away with murder in this country with the bailout aand gotten away with it, would hesitate to put regulations into place that would allow them to take over all food and drugs here - especially when the public has had enough of industrial and drugs and wants to buy from local farmers and to get well on natural substances?

Do you think that Monsanto which holds more patents on seeds than any corporation in the world and is known for suing farmers into bankruptcy, and ran the FDA under Clinton

http://www.localforage.com/local_forage/2008/02/an-open-letter.html

would balk at using the FDA to removing all seed collecting and seed cleaning and seed banking of normal seeds - its competition?

So, in addition to all the financial mess farmers are coping with, they face an aggressive, on-going attacks meant to wipe them out:

1.  a pattern of robberies and break-ins of seed cleaners, typically followed by lawsuits against them by Monsanto, and

2.  continual USDA and state ag department raids on dairy farmers selling direct to customers who want their products, and

3.  SWAT team raid on an organic coop in Ohio, and

4.  anti-democratic Monsanto driven laws that stop communities from controlling the planting of seeds

http://environmentalcommons.org/seed-law-SanFrancisco.html

and

5.  Monsanto laws that have turned farmers' previous rights to save seeds into policing of their lives.

http://www.ethicalinvesting.com/monsanto/news/10040.htm

But those things pale in comparison to what the FDA regulations would do - criminalize water, manure, harvesting equipment, transport equipment, seed cleaning equipment, and seed storage.

The whole ball of wax.

We are looking at:

1.  Monsanto actively attacking American crop farmers through lawsuits and pushing laws that remove freedom to collect seeds and community rights to protect themselves,

2.  the USDA and state Ag departments repeatedly using state troopers to raid horse and buggy Mennonite farmers in Pennsylvania, and state laws in California to wipe out non-corporate dairy farmers, and now in Ohio a SWAT team raid on an organic coop and NAIS to attack farmers raising animals,

http://www.opednews.com/articles/Legal-Defense-Fund-Files-S-by-Farm-to-Consumer-L-080715-264.html

and now

3.  the FDA preparing to turn farmers into felons for farming in normal ways and daring to try to sell products they have sold for generations to Americans who very much want those local products.

And government/agribusiness are getting away with it.

Obama's choice of Vilsack, the brainchild of the anti-democratic laws, and Monsanto's buddy, shows how powerful this corruption is.

We need a lawsuit and great public outcry to stop the FDA regulations.  And the Homeland Security regulations must be stopped as well.  They will make the current USDA raids pale in comparison, because they are set up for "surge capacity" and massive warrantless raids to seize and destroy - without due process - all crops, all animals and all farm equipment.

You need to realize that it is YOUR FOOD and YOUR HUMAN RIGHT to choose how you heal yourself (taking away flax seed, vitamin C ... for crying out loud) are being stolen out from under you under the aegis of "food safety."

Look at the attack on farmers.  Amish.  Mennonite.  And other Americans who have farmed for generations through all kinds of hard times to provide food for us - who define clean farming versus the filthy of corporate processes.  Why are they being attacked?  For selling non-corporate pure, real food to local customers who are happy to get it.

They are farming without a middle man and that corporate middle man has grown MONSTROUS, just like the health insurance companies, and won't allow any system to exist when it intends to squeeze all profit out of nature and people and be able to have a monopoly that allows them to provide a degraded synthetic product.  They want us entirely dependent on them for food and health, unable to find health through good food or natural substances because good food from local farmers and good health are worth nothing to them.  Dependency and iIllness are valuable.

Without farmers and without access to natural substances, you are FULLY trapped into industrial food and drugs.

Look at the regulations.  Look at what is happening already.  Look at who Obama chose.

Sustainable agriculture is a pipe dream that agribusiness has figured how to blow away while we are not looking.

So, LOOK.  LOOK carefully.

Something truly terrible is happening.

Your life and your childrens’ lives are at stake in this.  Your food, your right to choose natural things to treat your family, your right during a financial disaster to be free to collect seeds, to grow food, to sell it to your neighbors if you wish, to have a cow and share and sell its milk, to reject genetically engineered crops that are now associated with infertility and illness.

Met libertarian and conservative farmers and learned an incredible amount about farming and nature and science, as well as about government violations against them and against us all. The other side of the fence is nothing like what we've been (more...)
