UPDATE, 11 pm, 06.18.13: The Prescott National Forest office said that the Doce fire is now approximately 5000 acres in size, with 0% containment. They list the cause as human. Resources Committed/Ordered: 2 Type 1 Air Tankers, 2 Helicopters, 10 Crews, 10 Engines. The Southwest Area Type I Incident Management Team under Tony Sciacca will arrive Wednesday, June 19 to assume management of the fire. They note also that the fire continues to be active with winds pushing the fire north into the Williamson Valley Corridor.  Several areas have been evacuated, but no structures have been lost and no injuries. NOTE: original title was "Prescott AZ Wildfire Engulfs 500 Acres," title was updated to reflect new information.

Firefighters battle a blaze that began just before noon on Tuesday just outside Prescott, AZ and homeowners have been evacuated.

The fire started near the Doce Pit and is therefore named the Doce Fire.

According to ABC news, "Winds gusting to 22 mph pushed the flames across a state highway and the fire was at 20 acres by early Tuesday afternoon. That triggered mandatory evacuations for homeowners in the Granite Basin area and people in the Alto Pit Recreation Area."

Over 500 acres have been engulfed. (Please note in update above: as of 11 pm total was raised to over 5000 acres.)

The main road out of town to the west, Iron Springs Rd.,  has been closed beyond the Williamson Valley intersection. A number of emergency vehicles  from other areas have been heading toward the fire.
