I guess even in a grassroots movement like OccupyDC there can be some hypocrisy.  Sometimes by Jerry Nelson
I guess even in a grassroots movement like OccupyDC there can be some hypocrisy.  Sometimes the rights and freedoms that many of the protestors insist upon enjoying themselves are denied by them to people whose opinions and thoughts may differ.

On Sunday afternoon, a street preacher came into the park and begin to share what he thought was the answer to the problems that have been raised by OccupyDC.  The minister shared several scripture verses that he used to show that a full scale return to Jesus Christ and righteous living would solve the problems that this country is going through.

He might be right.  Or not.  That's not the point.

About five or six of the protestors joined together in shouting him down.  The street preacher bravely continued his little discourse in the face of jeering.  It was only after it became obvious that his message was not to be allowed did he close his Bible, step out of the gated area surrounding the statue and begin to talk with people one-on-one.

I guess when it's convenient for ODC; the protestors want to make sure that the First Amendment applies.  When it's not convenient, it gets tossed out of the window like yesterday's lunch.  Too bad.

The solution that the occupiers are looking for just might be found in the very words they're trying to drown out.
