The 1% are worried. They are nowhere close to being beaten - they are still very much in charge. But as they see us involve more of the 99% they know that life could get harder for them. So they are beginning to do what they do best: use their money to influence people. They contributed to the police in New York weeks ago and we saw the "white shirts" mace young women already in custody in an attempt to incite protesters to express their outrage physically. That failed. They have influenced mayors all over the country to find excuses to remove occupiers and treat them roughly, steal or destroy their belongings as they did in Liberty Park to intimidate us to go home to our TVs and leave them alone to keep ripping us off. That is failing. They persuade police to pick up homeless people and drop them off at encampments because some of them bring in alcohol and street drugs, but they see us embrace those people and recruit some of them to our cause. They hope the cold weather will drive protesters indoors and out of sight. They refuse to believe how angry we are and how tough we can be when we are aroused.

Even if there was a miracle and Occupy Wall Street folded, the over 2000 encampments it spawned all over the world will continue. Have you seen a redwood grove where the giant parent has gone and a circle of tall trees remains? And remember: we are only two months young. Who knows what we can do in a year? In the many years that a redwood can live before it falls to the ground?

Of course they are worried. They have good reason to be.
