Pakistan has reacted sharply to the Indian Army's statement on the Pakistan administered Kashmir, saying it shows the "vivid imprint of domestic political showboating on Indian military thought."

The Pakistan Army's statement came in response to the comments of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Indian Northern Command, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, who said: "When the government of India orders, the army is ready to take action on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)." He also claimed that around 160 terrorists are present on Pakistani launch pads to infiltrate into India. "We will not let their plans succeed."

The Pakistan Army Tweeted on Thursday the "unwarranted statement of a high-ranking Indian Army officer concerning Azad Jammu and Kashmir is an apt manifestation of Indian Armed Forces' delusional mindset."

According to the Pakistan Army, the Indian military would do well to refrain from reckless rhetoric and aggressive communication to support the "regressive ideology of their political masters in the interest of regional peace."

"The fallacious remarks and unfounded allegations of so-called "launch-pads" and "terrorists" are an attempt to divert attention from the Indian Army's repressive use of force and gross human rights violations against innocent unarmed Kashmiris striving for their right of self-determination, upheld by International Law & enshrined in UN Security Council Resolutions. The Indian General Officer's lofty claims and surreal ambition are intellectually insulting," the statement reads.

The statement further said that Pakistan's military is a force for good and a proponent of regional peace and stability. "This desire for peace, however, is matched with our capability and preparation to thwart any misadventure or aggression against our territory, an assertion comprehensively validated on numerous occasions including recently in the Balakot episode," it added.

It may be recalled that on February 26, 2019, Indian planes attacked Balakot in Pakistan. The following day, Pakistan shot down an Indian warplane and took its pilot prisoner.

General Upendra Dwivedi has also said that a resolution has been passed in the Parliament on the issue of PoK. The Indian Army is fully prepared for every order of the government. He said that whenever the government orders, the army will move ahead with its full preparation. "We will not let their plans succeed."

Rajnath Singh's Statement

General Upendra Dwivedi's statement followed Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh's comments that India is committed to implementing the 1994 resolution of retrieving the "Pakistan-occupied Kashmir".

Rajnath Sindh made the comments at the Infantry Day function in Srinagar. India holds this event every year as an enactment of the landing at Srinagar by the Indian Airforce on this day in 1947.

While hinting at "retrieving" Kashmir from Pakistan, the minister said the goal of overall development in the twin union territories of Jammu and Kashmir will be achieved after reaching Gilgit and Baltistan parts of Kashmir.

"We have just begun our journey of development in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, we will achieve our goal when we reach Gilgit and Baltistan," the Defense Minister said, who is also a Bharatiya Janata Party leader.

The Indian Defense Minister also hailed Prime Minister Modi and said the Centre's decision to abrogate Article 370 on August 5, 2019, ended the discrimination against the people in Jammu and Kashmir. "The discrimination against the people of Jammu and Kashmir was ended under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5, 2019," he said.
