"Kenosha police faced questions about their interactions with the gunman on Tuesday night. According to witness accounts and video footage, police apparently let the gunman walk past them and leave the scene with a rifle over his shoulder and his hands in the air, as members of the crowd yelled for him to be arrested because he had shot people.
Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said the gunman likely slipped away because the scene was chaotic, with lots of radio traffic and people screaming, chanting and running - conditions he said can cause "tunnel vision" among law officers."
The sheriff is LYING. Rittenhouse did not walk by all of the police. He did not "slip away," he presented himself at arms' length to the police, of whom there were dozens in several police vehicles directly facing Rittenhouse and his rifle.
At the end of the cellphone video in which Rittenhouse is seen with his hands in the air, Rittenhouse walks over to the passenger-side front window of one of the police vehicles that has not yet left the scene. Rittenhouse recoils perceptibly a moment after he arrives at the window, and with that the video ends.
No explanation has been made of what the police actually said to the shooter, or even whether they checked the ID of a man in a scene of urban unrest with an assault rifle over his shoulder.
