Progressives are hitting amazing new levels of.... interest, enthusiasm, engagement.
That's my take-away from my first day at NetRoots Nation in Philadelphia.
The conference has seen an explosive increase in attendance-- from around 3000 in 2018 to over 3700 in 2019. Considering this is the 14th year of the conference, such a big jump in attendance is a great sign for the vivacity and excitement among the progressive base. When I say excitement, it's not just about showing up. People at the conference are really psyched and full of passion and enthusiasm. The energy is highly contagious and the connections being made are amazing.
I wasn't even planning to attend the first day, then I saw the incredible range of great panels, discussions and keynotes and I had to change my schedule and add the day.
I was glad I did, The biggest challenge was deciding what to attend, or to go to the exhibit hall where there are great organizations.
My favorite panel was STRATEGIES AND TACTICS FOR TARGETING CORPORATIONSAND WINNING! The presenters offered specific, concrete strategies and tactics for taking on corporations for organizations with all levels of resources.
Along radio row I had a chance to connect with Nina Turner and congressional Rep Eleanor Holmes Norton.
I gave Nina Turner a copy of Bottom-up Revolution book. Hope it helps Bernie's And OurRevolution's bottom-up thinking to the next level #ninaturner #ourrevolution

At the end of the day there was a phenomenal lineup of powerful speakers giving talks that brought the audience to tears. Here are a few quotes I grabbed from their talks:
This is not about giving politicians jobs. it's about making people's lives better. Rashad Robinson, executive director, Color of Change
These, from Sara Nelson, are clearly bottom-up thinking:
Our solidarity IS our power. Sara Nelson,

Solidarity and the courage of working people is the greatest force for good in the course of human history. Sara Nelson
Power shifts to people when we act in unity.
I'll be at the conference today and tomorrow. I'd love to connect if you are also attending.

more detailed bio:
Rob Kall has spent his adult life as an awakener and empowerer-- first in the field of biofeedback, inventing products, developing software and a music recording label, MuPsych, within the company he founded in 1978-- Futurehealth, and founding, organizing and running 3 conferences: Winter Brain, on Neurofeedback and consciousness, Optimal Functioning and Positive Psychology (a pioneer in the field of Positive Psychology, first presenting workshops on it in 1985) and Storycon Summit Meeting on the Art Science and Application of Story-- each the first of their kind. Then, when he found the process of raising people's consciousness and empowering them to take more control of their lives one person at a time was too slow, he founded Opednews.com-- which has been the top search result on Google for the terms liberal news and progressive opinion for several years. Rob began his Bottom-up Radio show, broadcast on WNJC 1360 AM to Metro Philly, also available on iTunes, covering the transition of our culture, business and world from predominantly Top-down (hierarchical, centralized, authoritarian, patriarchal, big) to bottom-up (egalitarian, local, interdependent, grassroots, archetypal feminine and small.) Recent long-term projects include a book, Bottom-up-- The Connection Revolution, debillionairizing the planet and the Psychopathy Defense and Optimization Project.
