My husband, Bob Clapsadle, and I are filmmakers and avid film buffs. Our company, HOTEL REFINEMENT, LLC, recommends several movies that are relevant to the to the current epidemic and lockdowns, when old movies can help.

PANIC IN THE STREETS, Elia Kazan directing. A criminal contracts bubonic plague and goes into hiding. An intense search ensues.

DISTANT THUNDER, Satajit Ray directing. An artificially induced famine, and how a small village in India reacts.

ANIMAL CRACKERS, The Marx Brothers. Everyone needs a good laugh.

Whatever you do, DON'T WATCH "Panic in Year Zero", the vintage disaster movie starring Ray Milland... you'll never be the same.

Hi Janet, I hope you know I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek. It is actually a supremely well done movie for its time, very appropriate for these times, and directed by Ray Milland himself. As a matter of fact, I just finished watching it (again) on Youtube with a friend who hadn't seen it since the 60s. Also, thank you for what I will assume was a compliment of sorts...

Can you believe at 73 y.o., I've never watched Animal Crackers? This might be the perfect time, eh? Thanks.

My wife and I watched Animal Crackers the night it was posted here. Really funny! Must have been their first film and I would say not as good as some of their later ones. My wife at first didn't want to watch it, saying, "I've seen all their films so many times and I can't watch any of them again, at least not for a few more years." But it turned out that even she had never seen it before.
