When Obama started did he have to act as he did? Were his choices obvious?
His involvement in all of policies affecting us all has made him appear that he is a coward and not overly bright. All he had to do was think about what happened during Bill Clinton's administration.
The article "Presidency of Bill Clinton at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidency_of_Bill_Clinton
stated "One of Clinton's major policy initiatives in his first term was on the American economy. Clinton's economic plan included a major expansion of the existing Earned Income Tax Credit, aimed at working class families just above the poverty line, which helped ensure that it made sense for them to work rather than seek welfare. John F Harris, argues that "this would be prove to be one of the most important and tangible progressive achievements of the Clinton years".
A major problem with the economy at the time was the issue of the massive deficit and the problem of government spending. In order to address these issues, in August 1993, Clinton signed the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993 which passed Congress without a single Republican vote. It raised taxes on the wealthiest 1.2% of taxpayers, while cutting taxes on 15 million low-income families and making tax cuts available to 90 percent of small businesses. Additionally, it mandated that the budget be balanced over a number of years and the deficit be reduced. This was to be achieved through the implementation of spending restraints.
Obama was presented with a worldwide economic crisis, not with piddling issues of the massive deficit and the problem of government spending, as Clinton was.
Obama also has a fervent GOP political machine that has bitterly attacked him relentlessly, and even though it is hard imagine, much more evilly than they attacked Clinton "who the GOP ultimately impeached. The right-wing extremists have just gotten older and meaner than they were during Clinton's term. Now they even have biblical verses-- Psalm 109:8, suggesting that Obama's wife should become a widow.
The article "A Show About Nothing: The Placeholder Presidency of Barack Obama at
http://www.smirkingchimp.com/print/25085/
states "Hey, remember Seinfeld? Remember how it billed itself as a "show about nothing", and how, in fact, that's what it was? I think we're at the point now where it's become inescapable that the Obama
presidency is also a show about nothing.
It's the same as Seinfeld. Except for two things. First, unlike Seinfeld, it bills itself as a show about something, if not everything (remember Mr. Bigtime Change from just last year?). And, second, the nothingness of the Obama administration is not very goddam funny, thanks just the same.
The article lists scads of New York Times headlines from last week and continues "If you get a sense from this list that the man holding the most powerful position on the planet is bound and determined to be an object of action, rather than a proactive force on the historical stage, there's a good reason for that feeling. That appears to be precisely his intention.
At a time of significant peril to the country and the world, this president will not act.
And he certainly will not act in any way that is remotely controversial. In normal times, that list would cover just about everything. In our era, however, where rabid regressives have entirely lost even a remote satellite uplink to reality, and have devoted themselves to destroying Obama's presidency at any cost, there is nothing that a president who is worried about ruffling feathers could actually do about anything. If he salutes the fallen returning to Dover Air Force Base, they excoriate him. If he shows a scrap of politeness bowing to the Japanese emperor, they eviscerate him. If he claims he was born in America, they call him a liar for it.
That seems to be fine with Obama. He seems quite content to be a placeholder president, just as Bill Clinton was before him.
And the article gets nasty stating "But enough with the fairness doctrine already. These caveats don't begin to mitigate the epic disaster of the Obama sclerosis. This guy isn't just a deer caught inthe headlights, he's Bambi on the 50 yard-line, under the klieg lights of a national stadium.
