Women’s reproductive rights are under attack by George Bush, only this time he’s not going through the courts where he’s sure to lose, he’s attacking women through regulations.
OB-GYNs will no longer have to practice their love with women, if George Bush gets his way.
Of course, they’re the physicians who love themselves, their own moral values and their own religions more than they love women or help women.
You might say they even hate women and hold them in the lowest of esteem.
There are some OB-GYNs who love their female patients soooo much, they don’t want them to have abortions.
Citing as their reasons for not wanting to perform abortions as bad for the fetus’ health, many gynecologists are refusing to perform this surgical procedure, and Bush is backing them and protecting them with new rules and regulations.
He doesn’t stop there.
The new rules issued by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), not only protects doctors from legal action if they refuse to perform an abortion, because it goes against their moral grain, but now it covers a periphery of related health care givers nurses to the people who sterilize the instruments or mop the operating room floor.
Under the radar and just getting some publicity last week by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and CNN’s Campbell Brown, is George Bush’s moralistic attacks against women and their reproductive rights, because of his own narrow beliefs.
He’d make a perfect Taliban leader, forcing American women into archaic roles and total domination by men -- something that is happening all over the world where the Taliban has regained control as it has in Pakistan.
Back in August when this ugly protection of doctors who object to performing abortions or other birth control related practices or advice reared its ugly head, and there was time for public input, the story was buried under a barrage of election coverage.
Quoting aolnews.com: In what will likely turn out to be one of its last official acts, the Bush Administration is finalizing rules that would protect health care workers and providers who object to abortion and contraception services on religious or moral grounds. The proposed rules…would prevent any federally funded hospital or clinic from discriminating against doctors, nurses, pharmacists, or other health care workers who refuse to perform or assist in abortion, sterilization, or contraceptive procedures due to their conscientious objections… President-elect Obama has said that he will sign the Freedom of Choice Act as one of the first official acts...FOCA is a bill proposed by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) that would prohibit any state or local government from enacting restrictions on abortions and retroactively invalidate every state restriction already in existence.“Freedom of conscience is not to be surrendered upon issuance of a medical degree,” said Michael Leavitt, Secretary of HHS. “This proposal ensures that doctors and other medical personnel will retain the constitutional right to listen to their own conscience when it comes to performing or participating in an abortion.”
While Tony Perkins, Family Research Council president said, “This upholds basic constitutional freedoms. These regulations will ensure that pro-life medical personnel will not be forced to engage in the unconscionable killing of innocent human life.”
Beside the fact that Leavitt and Perkins are dead wrong and full of crap, taken to the extremes, which happens, the dreaded snowballing slippery slope effect could take over.
Refusing to medical procedures because of moral and religious beliefs could invade all fields of medicine.
