Koch Brings Good Things to Life! |

When you are a multi-billionaire, it's just a chess game. They are unstoppable.
Not that they needed it, but they plan to raise millions of dollars next weekend at a Palm Springs GOP fund-raising event to fund their private political agendas. Cash, cash, baby. That's all it takes to buy a Congress these days. Soon Chuckie and Davie will shape our future political and legislative philosophies as they see fit. The US political system is their playground. That's how capitalism works.
Once their puppet candidates are elected, get ready for the house that Koch built -- what will it look like? Politico has a sneak preview of their coming assault on our electoral system:
"The Koch political operation has become among the most dominant forces in American politics, rivaling even the official Republican Party in its ability to shape policy debates and elections. But it's mostly taken a piecemeal approach, sticking to its sweet spots, while leaving other tasks to outsiders, or ad hoc coalitions of allies. That's changing. This year, the Kochs' close allies are rolling out a new, more integrated approach to politics. That includes wading into Republican primaries for the first time to ensure their ideal candidates end up on the ticket, and also centralizing control of their network to limit headache-inducing freelancing by affiliated operatives."
They've already shelled out more than $20 million in advertising dollars to spread their lies about Obama's health care plan. Their attempt to use the power of propagandist advertising to convince America that access to affordable health care is bad for them is sad, but also, sadly effective when plied against your typical Fox "news" viewers. Their latest blitz is aimed at Democratic politicians that supported Affordable Health Care in an attempt to convince their brainwashed followers that Affordable Health Care (and its proponents) is one of the greatest societal evils in the history of humankind. The NY Times has more:
"In one typical example, the group's ad against Representative Gary Peters of Michigan, a Democrat who is running for an open Senate seat, is full of distortions and lies. It accuses Mr. Peters of lying when he said the law bars cancellations of insurance policies. Mr. Peters happened to be right, as millions of people who once faced losing all insurance after they got sick now appreciate. The 225,000 Michigan residents who the ad said received 'cancellation notices' were actually told that they could change to a better policy; they were not told they could no longer have insurance, as the ad implies. And though the ad said health care costs are 'skyrocketing,' national spending on health care is now growing at the slowest pace ever recorded, in part because of the reform law."
The truth maters not in this system. Citizen's United declared that corporations were people; the end of the fairness doctrine meant right-wing conservatives could spread their propaganda across the fruited plane, unchallenged; and billionaires like the brothers Koch can use their monies to shape our political process any way they see fit. As Raisin Brain would say (albeit about 9-11-01) -- they hit the trifecta.
Given this reality, does it matter what President Obama says in his State of the Union tomorrow night?
